Lynnwood, Washington sits north of Seattle. Although dwarfed in size by the bigger city, Lynnwood stands out as a dog-friendly city.

A half dozen motels in Lynnwood can be considered pet-friendly: La Quinta Inn, Extended Stay America, Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites, Hampton Inn & Suites, Embassy Suites and Rodeo Inn. Most charge fees for pets ranging from $20 to $50 per night. Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites allows only dogs in their rooms. Two motels – La Quinta Inn and Hampton Inn & Suites – allow pets to stay for free. Be sure to check with each establishment for their up-to-date pet policies.

Lake Stickney Community Park has a small area for dogs. Dogs can run freely through the shady, grassy area. Although they don’t have specific areas just for dogs, two other parks in Lynnwood – Lynndale Park and Scriber Lake Park - have walking trails where dogs on leashes can accompany their owners. The Scriber Creek Trail connects Scriber Lake Park, Scriber Creek Park, and Sprague’s Pond Mini Park with the Interurban Trail.

Do you like to shop? Does you dog like to go with you? Then you’re in luck. There are several stores in Lynnwood that welcome well-behaved, leashed dogs inside their businesses. Your dog can help you pick out his favorite toys and treats at either Pet Pros or PetSmart Pet Store. Or your pet can tag along with you while you shop for sporting goods at Urban Outfitters.

Unfortunately, the city of Lynnwood does not have many restaurants that welcome dogs. One exception to this is Chipotle, on 196th Street. They have an outside patio where dogs are welcome to be with their owners. However, the dogs must remain outside while their humans order their food.

It may not be a big city, but you can tell the residents of Lynnwood have a big heart when it comes to taking care of their pets.

Lynndale Off Leash Dog Area, located in Lynndale Park, is the city’s only dog park. This lovely park offers two fully enclosed sections, one for small and shy dogs, and the other for larger and boisterous ones. Included in the dog park is agility equipment, a fur-friendly drinking fountain, a pet waste station, and lots of tennis balls for added fun. There are also benches and picnic areas for owners to rest their bones while pups play. As per park rules, pooches must be leashed when outside the designated dog park area. If canines feel their humans need a walk, they can take to the surrounding canine-approved park trails for a nature walk or challenging hike.

For a pawsome good time, head over to Four Paws Sports Center, where your pup can get trained into a sports dog. Not only does this center offer obedience training, but your dog can also take classes in agility, rally, and even flyball! Several teams of flyball dogs practice here, and are sometimes part of classes that can show your energetic dog the ropes.
