Pompey is a town in New York State occupying the southeastern part of Onondaga County.  This small town, with a history that dates back to before the Revolutionary War, offers beautiful scenery and rich historical heritage masterfully blended together. Its proximity to Syracuse, no more than 25 minutes north, is a big advantage, especially for pet owners looking for pet-friendly amenities and activities. The closest veterinary clinics can be found in Manlius.

Highland Forest County Park, not far from Fabius and north of Pompey, welcomes visitors to explore the expansive area of the park, featuring about 20 miles of walking and hiking trails open year-round. Pooches are very welcome to join their masters as long as they stay on-leash and behave. The scenery is breathtaking and the parkgoers are friendly. This park is perfect for picnicking, as is Pratts Fall Park in Manlius. The latter also features walking trails, but these lead to a 137-foot waterfall, a barkvelous place to take some pics for your Instagram!

You and Fido will need some fuel for your adventures, so start the day off right at Bruegger’s Bagels in Manlius’s downtown. This pet-friendly eatery has a wide selection of breakfast and lunch dishes and welcomes doggie diners at the outdoor tables.

Nestled on Onondaga Lake, Liverpool is a village in central New York with one of the most pawpular public parks in the area, hosting more than 1 million visitors annually! Onondaga Lake Park hugs the western side of the lake. Rolling hills, exercise trails, paved pathways, and bike rentals are just a few of the things this park has to offer! Well-behaved canines are very welcome and should stay on-leash at all times. There is also an off-leash area – Wegman’s Good Dog Park near Seneca River.
