Richmond in Contra Costa County was named for the more famous Richmond in Virginia. It’s a bustling city of more than a hundred thousand residents, and many, many dogs! There are three full service veterinary hospitals in Richmond, and the area caters to canines. To get a view of the natural beauty here, try the Wildcat Creek Trail, a 3 mile moderate looped trail that is perfect for looking down over the city.

If you want to hit the sand with your pup, the Point Pinole Regional Shoreline is a must see. The area is welcoming to leashed dogs, and offers a gorgeous view of the water. You can also go to Point Molate for a dog-friendly view of dunes and waves. Your leashed pup will love exploring the beach, and may make a friend as the area is popular with dog owners! If you need a boost of caffeine after all that exercise, Catahoula Coffee Company & Roastery is a dog-friendly place to sit and enjoy great coffee, and frequently, local bands.

For a great night’s sleep, you and your dog can retire to Extended Stay America Richmond Hilltop Mall. Pets sleep for a small pet fee, and humans sleep happy to know that there’s even more of Richmond to see tomorrow!
