Dog Areas in Southern Pines

5 Groomers

Southern Pines has several dog-friendly attractions for you and your pooch to enjoy! A must-see is the Weymouth Woods Sandhills Nature Preserve. The park covers almost 900 acres in total. Dogs must be on no more than a 6-foot leash to enjoy this area. Centuries-old pine trees cover the park, providing a glimpse into what the area looked like many years ago. Rare species thrive here, so wildlife lovers are bound to see something out of the ordinary. Several trails cross through the park, most of them short and not steep.

Martin Park is Southern Pines’ only off-leash dog park. Located off of Commerce Avenue, the park is heavily used by friendly locals and visitors. In contrast to other parks that may simply consist of a wide-open fenced-in space, this park is marked by the various wooded trails, creeks, rocky formations that Fido is welcome to explore. Dog toys and water is provided. Keep in mind that the park is not completely fenced, so escape-artist dogs may need to remain on leash.

Need a place to stay in the area? The Days Inn Conference Center, the Econo Lodge & Suites, and the Residence Inn (for longer stays) all welcome dogs, with varying fee and weight policies.
