Dog Areas in Stone Park

Illinois is known for a multitude of things. The state is mainly flatland, and is full of farms. However, it also has a coast with some gorgeous beaches overlooking Lake Michigan. Stone Park is located very close to one of the largest cities in the country, Chicago. Chicago is nothing short of magical all year round. It is full of dog parks, food, and plenty of furrific activities.

Just because Stone Park is primarily a residential neighborhood doesn't mean there isn't plenty for you and your pooch to do in the area! There are plenty of dog parks around the neighborhood, so your pup will have plenty of op-paw-tunities to sniff out some new furry friends! If you are looking for something a little more adventurous than a dog park, head to Thatcher Woods, Jerome Huppert Woods, or Fullerton Woods Family Picnic Area. There is a park in the vicinity for every day of the week and every mood you and your pup may be experiencing.

One important thing to keep in mind while visiting Stone Park is the weather. No one is exaggerating when they say the area has some of the worst weather in the country. In fact, some days in winter, it is colder than Mars! If you are visiting in winter, make sure you take a sweater and booties for your pup!

However, it does have a large, beautiful, green and grassy space for your pooch to run and play. The best part about this dog park is that is is leash-free so your pooch can run and play with abandon. The proximity to Stone Park is probably the best thing about this dog park -- it does not have any toys, equipment, or amenities. If your dog needs to play outside and get some sun, this is the place to go. Make sure you take your own water, doggie poop bags, toys, and seating. To really enjoy your time at this park, make sure you take a chair, umbrella for shade and a good book to keep yourself occupied while your pup is running and playing.

Although Norwood Park's Dog Friendly Area is approximately fifteen minutes from Stone Park, your pooch will love you for making the trip! The park has an annual fee of $20, but humans say it is well worth it for their pups. The park has plenty of doggie toys, pools in summer, and open green spaces for pups to run and play. In warm months, there is also water for pups to drink, whereas in cold months the water is shut off. This park is one of the busier dog parks in the Chicagoland area, so make sure your pooch is ready to socialize before going to the park.
