Westminster has been a major city and county seat in Maryland for decades. The city was founded by William Winchester, an indentured servant from England, in 1764, after he fulfilled his service obligation and moved away from Annapolis. Today, the city of Westminster has increased in size from less than one square mile to more than 6 square miles. It is a thriving community with a rich history in agriculture.

Autumn Ridge is a lovely dog-friendly neighborhood with plenty of room to walk and play the day away. The Westminster Community Pond is 33 acres of natural beauty. It is well-known for its duck and geese populations. Dogs are permitted on-leash as long as they don't bark excessively or chase the waterfowl. Feeding the birds is not allowed, so save the snacks for your pup! Fishing is allowed at the pond during certain times of the year. The Bennett Cerf Dog Park is a membership-only off leash dog park in the area. You can bring up to two dogs to this park at one time.
Alto Vista is a beautiful community full of single-family homes on the southern side of Westminster. The Landon C. Burns Park, at the corner of Gist Road and Center Street, is a puptastic place to bring your family for plenty of fun in the 7.8-acre space. There is plenty of room for large family picnics, and dogs are welcome on-leash as long as you clean up after them. There is a small playground and a small fishing pond right down the street. You will want to bring plenty of tennis balls and waste bags with you to these snifftastic parks.
