Westminster has been a major city and county seat in Maryland for decades. The city was founded by William Winchester, an indentured servant from England, in 1764, after he fulfilled his service obligation and moved away from Annapolis. Today, the city of Westminster has increased in size from less than one square mile to more than 6 square miles. It is a thriving community with a rich history in agriculture.

Westminster is 30 miles from Baltimore and 60 miles from Washington, D.C. There is plenty of family-friendly quality of life in Westminster with local parks, churches, schools, and plenty of jobs in both agricultural development and retail. Parts of the city are home to college students who attend one of the two institutions in the area.

There are five dog-friendly chain restaurants in the area with outdoor patios and a variety of food options to curb any craving. There is also a local walking trail right in the town that is about 2 miles long and runs from Uniontown Road to Long Valley Road. Dogs are welcome on-leash.

There are six animal hospitals in Westminster, making it easy to find great care for your pup if the need arises while you find yourself in this puptastic town.
