South Conway
In the South Conway neighborhood of the city of Conway, just to the north of Mayflower, you will find the Camp Robinson State Wildlife Management Area. With over 4000 acres and a 60-acre pond, this area, adjacent to Lake Conway, is great for great fishing and bird-watching. Home to ospreys and bald eagles, miles of trails intertwine for hiking. This dog-friendly wildlife area is where hunters come to train their dogs. Watch these dogs strut their stuff, and maybe your pup can pick up a few pointers. Dogs on voice command are allowed. Be sure to pack snacks and water.

Downtown Lawrence
Along the south edge of the Lawrence Landing neighborhood, you and your pup can visit dog-friendly Robert’s Pond. This is an area reservoir that offers great fishing for residents and visitors. It is the perfect place to throw in your line, relax on the grassy areas and take a snooze with pup until the fish start biting. Its also a great location to have a stroll and a picnic lunch. Be sure to plan ahead as this area does not offer restrooms or water fountains. Keep pup on leash unless under voice commands, and bring some clean-up mitts to keep this area pristine.

River Plantation
The River Plantation neighborhood of Mayflower features the Fletcher Bend Public Use area along the Arkansas River. This area is used by hunters and fisherman alike. Dog training is popular her,e and you and pup can watch as the locals get their dogs in tip-top shape for bird season. Fisherman also frequent Fletcher Bend as it is a prime location to do some catfish and bass fishing. Dogs are allowed in this area either on leash or under voice control. It is a great place for birdwatching as well, so bring a camera. Pack in a picnic lunch and spend the afternoon.

Lollie Road
On the east border of the Lollie Road neighborhood of Mayflower lies the Bell Slough State Wildlife Management Area. The land spans a sprawling 2000+ acres full of woods and open spaces. A 2.25-mile walking trail loops through the area, featuring interpretive signs, observation blinds, and lookouts to view the native and migratory wildlife that frequent this area. Take the trails to Grassy Lake to watch resident waterfowl. This area is on-leash dog friendly, but plan accordingly as there are no restrooms or water fountains on-site. Be sure to bring clean-up bags to keep this area pristine.

Paradise Landing
Bordering the east side of the Paradise Landing neighborhood, you will find the Camp Robinson State Wildlife Park. It covers a whopping 4000 acres along Lake Conway. Here you will find endless hiking opportunities with your pup. Residents use this area to train their hunting dogs, or to launch their boats on Pierce Creek Public Boat Landing. How about taking Fido for a cruise on the lake for some summer fun, or visit the on-site Lake Conway Nursery Pond Dam for some great pictures of the park. Dogs are allowed on-leash or voice command! Don’t forget to pack food and water.
