Sherwood, Arkansas is a pupperific city in Pulaski County. The city is home to several neighborhoods full of diverse resident populations and plenty of green space to run with your dog. You will see dogs of all breeds throughout the city as you are walking or driving through looking for some wagtastic things to do. There are four animal hospitals in Sherwood, all of which will treat you and your dog like family in an hour of need. You can rest assured that the staff will do all they can to keep your dog feeling his best.

Locals in Sherwood love the plentiful green spaces and small parks found throughout the city. Indianhead Lake is the pride and joy of the northern part of town, with plenty of pull-off parking where you can explore and splash the day away with your energetic copilot. Make sure you keep your dog on leash while in Sherwood. Don’t let the town’s rustic feel fool you; the streets can get quite busy during peak traffic hours. You will also want to make sure your dog is comfortable on leash around new dogs of different sizes. A stressed dog is more likely to act out of character than one that has been through unfamiliar situations in the past.

    #1 Jacksonville

Eight miles from Sherwood is Dupree Park in Jacksonville. You will have to take a quite a walk to get to the dog park area. It’s hidden behind the ball fields and out of the way so that you and Fido aren’t bothered by the noisy kids playing ball. There are a couple of paved trails where you can take your dog for a walk, as long as she doesn’t mind wearing a leash. The fenced-in park is a wide open area that is double gated so that Fido can play safely and securely. There is lots of room to run off-leash within the high fences.

Murray Park Off-Leash Park is ten miles from Sherwood. It has plenty of large, open dog pens that allow Fido to run and play with his fur friends. There are lots of water stations to keep him hydrated as he plays. The park does have two fenced in areas so that big dogs and small dogs do not get tangled in together. It is a great place to come and enjoy some outdoor fun. There is limited seating for humans, so remember to bring a folding chair or towel if you want to lounge. Doggie waste bags can be found throughout the park, so practice good petiquette and use them!
