Breckenridge St
A little under 14 miles from Cottonwood is the Breckenridge Street area of Red Bluff. This spot is just minutes away from Red Bluff’s downtown area that runs along the coast of the Sacramento River and has several dog-friendly dining spots to choose from. The Breckenridge Street area is where you’ll find the pupular Samuel Ayer/Dog Island Park, which is an excellent spot for a family picnic, bike ride, or hike. Your leashed dog is welcome in most areas of the park, including the pretty river waters! Head to c to fill hungry bellies and enjoy a meal at one of the outdoor tables.

Benton
Benton is a neighborhood in Redding, California that’s a little over 18 miles north of Cottonwood. Benton is the home of the Benton Airpark and the cozy residential areas that surround it. You and your pup can venture to the Benton Dog Park, located right near the Benton Airpark, for a couple of hours of exercise, play, and socialization. The off-leash park has separate areas for large and small dogs. For more outdoor fun in the neighborhood, check out the Blue Gravel Mine Trail, which allows well-behaved dogs to explore with their owners to get some pawesome sights of the nearby mountains.

Park Marina Village
You can get to the furtastic Redding neighborhood of Park Marina Village in a little over 16 miles from Cottonwood. This waterfront neighborhood runs along the Sacramento River and offers some pretty views of Redding’s downtown area (which is nearby and has a few paw-friendly restaurants to choose from if you get hungry!) and across-the-river neighborhoods. Turtle Bay East Park is a must-see here, with tons of land for you and your outdoor-loving pooch to enjoy. With open meadows for Max to romp around in and dog-friendly hiking trails, it’s sure to be a place your dog will go mutts for!

Degarmo Terrace
Chico is a good drive from Cottonwood – the Degarmo Terrace neighborhood is just over 51 miles away – but it’s an excellent place to check out for some dog-friendly fun when you have a day to explore. This neighborhood is on the northern end of the city and is home to DeGarmo Park, a public spot where residents and visitors go for playing, picnicking, watching sporting events, and more. The park also has an off-leash dog park inside that has small pools for pups to splash in and lots of space for them to explore. Sol Mexican Grill is nearby and has a pretty outdoor patio where dogs are welcome.
Downtown
If you’re looking for a huge selection of dog-friendly dining spots outside of Cottonwood, then Downtown Chico may be your best bet. This neighborhood is around 57 miles from Cottonwood and has plenty of options. The Tea Bar & Fusion Café is a fun, casual place you’ll love for its unique tea and coffee blends, and there’s an inviting outdoor patio for you and your favorite furry pal. Grab some Mexican cuisine at Tres Hombres, get served a quick lunch at Beach Hut Deli, or enjoy a wood-fired pizza at Grana – there are plenty of pet-friendly tables to go around at these restaurants!
