A gorgeous mountain town where sunshine abounds, Paradise, California, may be recognizable to some as the backdrop for certain movies and TV shows. It’s also a place where pets of all shapes and sizes can get outside and enjoy the recreational opportunities that Paradise has to offer!
Nestled among the pines of Paradise is the Moore Road Dog Park, also called the Lezlie Morrow Memorial Dog Park. Open every day from sunrise to sunset, the park is a perfect place to take your pooch off-leash. Covered by tall trees, the wooded park is separated into a large and small dog area. Amenities include a double-gated fence (suitable escape artists of all breeds), a water fountain, comfy benches, and lots of open space.
Paradise is also home to the Paradise Memorial Trailway. It is a paved trail that stretches for over five miles, starting at Neal Road and ending at Pentz Road. On average, the trail slopes at a grade of about 3%, so it provides some gentle hills to get your heart pumping. The trail ventures from residential areas to tall pine woodlands, and provides nearby access to local restaurants and delis. The trail is heavily used by locals, so make sure to watch out for bikers or skaters.
Previously an unused railroad corridor, the Paradise Memorial Trailway is now a great place to walk your dog in Paradise! Whether they’re on the leash, or scurrying down the road freestyle, your dog will never get enough of the sights and smells on this beautiful trailway: wide open sky, a huge scope of plant life, and an optional hiking route that’ll leave you barking for more. Paradise Memorial Trailway is supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, giving you a slice of history, and a slice of paradise, for you and your pup to take on, one step – and pawprint – at a time!
