The best dog friendly neighborhoods in Nevada City
48
Mill Street
The Mill Street neighborhood is home to Condon Park, which is where you will find Nevada City's only dog park. The main park itself stretches out for about 80 acres, and boasts a complex network of trails that offer up such a variety of different dog walks. Within this park is a fenced-in dog run, where Fido is allowed to run free off the lead, so long as he is up-to-date with vaccinations and licenses. Don't forget to bring doggie bags and water! If you're both feeling peckish afterwards, the covered patio at Sergio's Caffe is dog-friendly, and you and your pooch will be able to enjoy some deliciously hearty Italian cuisine here.

Nevada City
Encompassing the heart of the city, the Nevada City neighborhood is home to Pioneer Park, where you and your pooch will no doubt end up meeting at least a couple of other dogs. With several sports facilities, picnic and BBQ areas, and some large grassy fields, this is always a great place to spend a sunny day with your pooch. If you would like to show your pup more of the city's sights, download the map for the self-guided Nevada City Walking Tour. You and Fido will learn so much about the city's rich heritage, and will be able to see some truly historic buildings. Need somewhere to stay? There are quite a few dog-friendly options here, including the Broad Street Inn and the Nevada Queen Inn.
24
Bennett Hill
The Bennett Hill neighborhood dips into the Empire Mine State Historic Park, which has so much for both dogs and their owners to see, including one of the oldest and deepest gold mines in California. Although dogs need to be kept on a lead, and are not allowed inside the mine shaft or any historical buildings, the rest of the park is fully dog-friendly, and there is even fresh water provided for dogs at the Visitor's Center and the shop. If you would like to treat Fido to a tasty meal afterwards, Summer Thyme's Bakery and Deli can be found at the edge of this neighborhood, serving up speciality coffees and hearty sandwiches.
12
Cascade Shores
With the Cascade Shores neighborhood providing access to Tahoe National Forest, the options when it comes to dog walks here are seemingly endless. The forest itself consists of 850,000 acres of land for public use, including several mountain peaks. If you do not have much time to spare, the Scotts Flat Trail, which showcases some of the state's most spectacular wildflowers, can be found just outside the forest, right by the reservoir. The trail extends out for 6.7 miles, and while dogs are welcome to use it, you will need to keep Fido on a lead, and be sure to bring some water and doggie bags too.

Idaho Maryland
The Idaho Maryland neighborhood provides access to the start of the 4.5 mile Cascade Canal Trail, one of the most popular forested trails in the area. This trail is ideal for more of a leisurely dog walk, as the path is even all the way through, and it follows a meandering canal. If your pooch could do with a slightly longer walk, the 0.6 mile Orene Wetherall Trail branches off from the Cascade Canal Trail, and will give your pup the chance to explore even more of Banner Mountain. While both trails are dog-friendly, you will need to keep your pooch on a lead at all times.
