Central Coloma
The small community of Coloma is a pawesome place for you to bring Fido for some outdoor activity. You won’t have to travel outside the city limits to find adventure. The Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park encompasses about 70% of this quiet rural community. There are two hiking trails that vary in length for you and your canine companion to try out. Here, you’ll be able to explore nature and a little bit of history. Be prepared for some climbing on your hike. Dogs are allowed in this state park, provided you keep them on a leash no longer than six feet and pick up any messes.

Lotus
Located just west of Coloma, the neighborhood of Lotus offers some wonderful opportunities for you and Fido to enjoy together. Take your pooch out to the Dave Moore Nature Area and walk the mile-long trail loop. This pathway will take you through a variety of habitats and offers a spot along the river where your furry friend can take a little swim. After you get your exercise with your canine pal, grab something to eat Sierra Rizing. You can choose from salads, wraps, paninis, bakery items, and more at this casual cafe. Dogs are welcome to join you at the outdoor seating area.

Placerville
Load Fido in your car and head about 8.4 miles southeast to the historic community of Placerville for a day of recreation and shopping. You can start with a satisfying breakfast at Sweetie Pie’s. This dog-friendly establishment allows dogs on their patio. Next, walk through the downtown district of Old Town Placerville. This historic area has walking paths where you and your pooch can stretch your legs. Browse the many specialty shops on Main Street and find your own special treasure. Look for a paw print on the door to see if your leashed pup is welcome to enter the store. Wrap up your day wandering through Lumsden Park. Dogs are permitted provided they are kept on a leash.

You can take Fido to the village of Apex to access a pawtastic trail for walking or jogging. Take Fido on the Forni Road to Missouri Flat Road section of the El Dorado Trail and head west toward Sacramento or east toward Camino. As part of the national Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, the trail permits dogs as long as they are on a leash and owners pick up their waste. After a day on the trail, treat your pal to some spa time at the Grooming Galleria. This business is authorized by the National Behavior College. It offers full-service grooming, and will accept walk-ins.

Cameron Park
Cameron Park is located 14.4 miles southwest of Coloma. In this community, you can find several dog-friendly opportunities. For some off-leash fun, take Fido to Hacienda Dog Park. This wooded facility has separate fenced areas for large and small dogs, picnic benches for owners, water stations, and waste bags. You can also take your pup to Dave West Park to catch a little league game, or you can walk the trails through Gateway Park. Remember to keep your pooch on a leash when in these public parks. After a day of play and exercise, take your pooch with you to Wally’s Pizza Bar. Your furry friend is welcome to join you in the outdoor seating area.
