Cameron Park is a census-designated place located in El Dorado County, near Sacramento. The historical background of this city can be observed from the grinding rocks and burial mounds that are visible throughout Cameron Park -- dating back to the original inhabitants known as the Southern Maidu Indians. The local lake has a surrounding trail to hike and enjoy, as well as a pleasant beach and areas to swim. Several species of wildlife can be found frolicking around the lake, too; these animals may include turtles, area-specific fish, and aquatic fowl.

There are five dog-friendly restaurants in Cameron Park. The local favorite is Fenando’s Cosa del Sol, which serves burritos, tamales, wine and other mouthwatering Mexican foods. Dogs are welcome to join you at this highly-rated restaurant on the front patio where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the city and a fantastic meal. Other restaurants serve pizzas, pastas, and burgers to satisfy the cravings of all hungry visitors. In neighboring cities, several more food options are also available, such as Jack’s Urban Eats in Roseville and Sweet Pie’s in Placerville.

    #1 Coloma

This quaint city, located 36 miles northeast of Cameron Park, is known as being one of the first places where gold was discovered in the Sierra Nevada. Apart from its heritage, this is a beautiful green place, with Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park right in the town center. The James Marshall Monument in the southern part of the park is a noteworthy tourist attraction. The park is also a wonderful place for on-leash walks with your pooch, where you can explore countless trails spread all over. Going up the stream of the South Fork American River, you will find another place to visit with Fido. Dave Moore Nature Area appears to be a trail loop which also provides river access for swimming as a bonus for well-behaved pups. The most convenient way to visit Coloma going from Cameron Park will be driving through Lotus Road by car for approximately 25 minutes.
