A little over 29 miles from Yankee Jims is the Whitney Oaks neighborhood of Rocklin, CA. This is quite the pup-ular area for dogs and their owners, especially because the RRUFF Dog Park is here, located within Johnson Springview Park. This off-leash park accommodates dogs (and owners) with special needs, and even has a separate area for them to ensure their safety. You can also enjoy some pet-friendly restaurants in Whitney Oaks, like Dragas Brewing, at which local food trucks often stop by for a wide variety of eats. The pub has some of the area’s most favorite beverages on tap. Your leashed dog can even join you inside!

North Auburn

Yankee Jims is a small, rural community near Sierra Nevada. You may need to drive around a bit to find some dog-friendly areas, but fortunately, there are plenty in several directions! North Auburn in Auburn, CA is just under 18 miles from Yankee Jims. In addition to having some dog-friendly hotels, the area also has a dog park within Ashford Park, known as Ashley Memorial Dog Park. The fenced-in park features separate areas for small and large dogs, obstacles for agility, and even some rocks to climb on. On the northern end of the area is Christian Valley Park, where your leashed dog is free to join you to walk along the trails or play in the creek.

Coloma

Coloma is about 30 miles from Yankee Jims and is a rural town that’s not separated into neighborhoods. The area is great for some unique outdoor adventures with your pup. Marshall Gold State Historic Park welcomes dogs on their leashes on several of its trails. Aside from beautiful views and catching some of the area’s history, you can also explore some wildlife, local events, and more here. The neighborhood is also the home of Sierra Rizing, a popular bakery in the area that serves up delectable sweet treats and delicious sandwiches and wraps and welcomes your dog at paw-friendly outdoor tables.

The Oaks

Just over 40 miles from Yankee Jims is The Oaks in Grass Valley, CA. This neighborhood and its surrounding areas have plenty of hotels for dogs and their owners if you are just passing through. It also hosts a fenced-in dog park within Condon Park called Dogs Run Free of Nevada County. This park has a separate area for small dogs or those who aren’t yet accustomed to large groups of dogs. About 46 miles from Yankee Jims is Martinsburg in Penn Valley, CA. Although it’s a bit of a drive, the rural area has what you need if you’re craving an outdoor excursion with your best pal. Western Gateway Dog Park is a fenced-in, 2-acre park within the Western Gateway Park. It features convenient doggie bags for waste and shady spots for owners. You can also bring your leashed dog to the main park to walk the trails or splash in the creek. Blue Cow Deli sits right outside of the park, so if you get hungry, head there with your pup for a sandwich, salad, and more. Your dog is welcome on the outside patio.
