A beautiful natural area in the Oakland hills, The Redwood Regional Park offers tons of different hiking trails with numerous lengths that you and Fido can explore, and you may even stumble on the lake that is located in the park. Your dog needs to stay on leash throughout the park unless you are in an undeveloped area. The park is usually busy on the weekends with other dog walkers and bikers, while on the weekdays, it's usually quiet.

Only eight miles out of Moraga in Oakland, your pup will love running around off leash in the Joaquin Miller Dog Park, a fully fenced in area that offers benches, a waste bag station, and restrooms. This pawsome dog park offers a large and small dog section so everyone can play with pups their own size. If your dog isn't in the mood to socialize, check out the outer Joaquin Miller Park. This 500-acre park offers hiking trails and a picnicking area that sits beneath redwood and oak trees. The park is open from dawn until dusk, giving you and Fido enough time to have a great day out.

The Lafayette Reservoir is located six miles out of Moraga in Lafayette, and offers a few great hiking trails that you and your pup can journey along. Depending on how much you want to hike, you can decide on two different trails. The Rim Trail is an unpaved 4.7-mile trail that is a little difficult if you are a beginner at hiking, while the Lakeside Trail is a paved 2.7-mile trail. Besides hiking, the reservoir also offers other activities, like picnicking, fishing, boating and biking. While visiting, Fido needs to remain on a leash and don't forget your water.

The Lafayette-Moraga Regional Trail is great to hike along with your furry pal to get some good exercise in while exploring the hills of Moraga. The 13.6-mile trail has a 620-foot elevation gain with an out and back trail route, and is perfect for first time hikers since it is mainly paved and doesn't offer any steep climbs. This is a popular trail, and you may see numerous people enjoying the trail on their bikes or walking their own pups. If your dog isn't in the mood for a hike, visit the Moraga Commons Park for an easy walk. Filled with a picnic area, skate park, tot lot, playground, and numerous sport fields, your pup will enjoy hanging out at this park with you.
