Does your dog love to explore the wilder sides of America? If you live right in the middle of Canton Center, you can head east into Nepaug State Forest. For hilly treks with amazing views from the overlooks, this is definitely the place to spend the day with your Fido. You can hike the trail around the peaks of Yellow Mountain, or just spend the day relaxing under the shade of the oak trees. Or, you can splash or fish in the Farmington River. Just don't forget your leash, doggie waste bags, and sense of adventure! Fido's got his!

Does your dog love to come with you for trips to the deli and could hang out by your side furrrever? Then the Collinsville neighborhood is a great place for your doggo to live or visit! Leash up and head on down to LaSalle Market Deli & Market. Maybe if Fido's good, he can have a slice of deli meat as a treat! LaSalle has daily specials like the Panella Bread French Toast with strawberries and Mandarin oranges. You can also pick up a Mutt & Jeff, which is a Northeastern take on the class Reuben. Make sure to bring your appetites! (And Fido's collapsible water bowl.)

Canton Valley
Do you come home to your dog wagging his tail so fast you think it could be used as a boat propeller? He probably wants to go for a walk, so why not take him for a hike in the Canton Valley neighborhood? Canton Valley has quick access to the Farmington River Trail. This 14.9-mile trail winds its way across Hartford, following along the Farmington River. Sometimes the river's in view and other times you can see the countryside of Canton. After hiking all day, it's time to get a slice! You can take your "pupperoni" down to Joe Pizza. This upscale, but down-for-the-dogs restaurant has classic Italian entrees like fried calamari, oven-baked pizza, and carbonara. Bring your dog and try the Clam Casino pizza!

Does your dog like to eat healthily and stay trim? Then he'll be "fur-st" in line at Cosi Restaurant in the Lovely neighborhood. Cosi is dog-friendly and serves up fresh salads, sandwiches, and soups. The location in Lovely lets your dog sit with you in the outside seating area. You can dine on entrees like adobo lime chicken salad, roasted turkey club, or a bowl of the fire-roasted vegetable soup. If your doggo is more of a pasta fan, then you can head over to New England Pasta Co, which is also in the Lovely neighborhood. At New England Pasta Co, you can get healthy, gluten-free options for pasta, sandwiches, and soups, like the steak and swiss cheese panini or the seafood ravioli.

West Simsbury
Is your dog fascinated by the river's edge, knowing that there are hundreds of trout teeming underneath the surface? In the West Simsbury neighborhood, you can head over to Stratton Brook State Park for a relaxing fishing trip. If your doggo is more the hiking type, there is also a complex trail system that wraps around the park. If you don't catch any trout, you can always head to the dog-friendly Meadow Asian Cusine for some sushi! Don't forget to bring plenty of waste bags, water, and a collapsible water bowl for your adventures in this part of town.
