Southeast Berlin

If your dog is the sort who loves a bit of peace and quiet, but also enjoys roaming sandy beaches and dipping their toes in the tides, the southeastern section of Berlin, Maryland is just a short drive away. Make your way to Assateague National Seashore, where your precious pup is allowed year-round as long as they’re on a leash and in designated areas. Reviewed as quiet and peaceful, the Assateague National Seashore is said not to be terribly busy on most days. While your canine might miss some companions, if you’re looking for some rest and relaxation, you'll find it here!

North Dewey Beach

A hop and a skip away, back in Delaware, you’ll find Dewey Beach, located in the northern part of the larger city of Dewey Beach. A dog-friendly location that your pup is sure to go barking mad for, you’ll be happy to know that well-behaved dogs are allowed off-leash on the condition that they can follow voice commands and have good recall skills. You won’t have to worry about sunbathers, just a bunch of friendly folks walking their doggies. Bring some fresh water and some doggy waste bags, and you'll be set for a day in the sun!

South Rehoboth Beach

Another short distance away from Dewey Beach, a ways north, you’ll find yourself in Rehoboth Beach, a beautiful area that is considered something of a hidden gem by the residents. It's not densely populated, but what the location lacks in size it makes up for with activity. Rehoboth Beach has more dining options than Dewey Beach, so if you’re looking for a good meal before running off some energy, you’ll want to come here. The perfect place to run off that energy is Delaware Short State Park. Your dog is required to remain leashed at all times, but you’ll have fun anyway!

North Ocean City

If you’ve had enough of the sandy beaches, and are interested in exploring some more grassy terrain with your toothy tot, you’ll need to head towards North Ocean City. Here, you’ll find Northside Park, which has a nice paved walking path along lagoons and rolling hills. You’ll need to keep your dog leashed, but you can’t go wrong with a nice jog alongside your pup pal. Just be sure to bring plenty of fresh drinking water -- there are doggy waste stations all throughout the park, so you’re set there. Just bring yourself and your buddy, and have a ball!

West Rehoboth Beach

Last but certainly not leash-t, mosey back in the direction of Rehoboth Beach, towards the western section. It’s the perfect place to wrap up your doggy day trip, because it's where you’ll find the Big Chill Surf Cantina. At this outdoor bar that serves a number of delicious mixed drinks, you can grab yourself something tasty and enjoy the company of the locals and their doggies! Your pup will be thrilled to make some pals, and even if it’s just the two of you, at least you are not drinking alone if your precious pup is with you!
