The small, unincorporated community of Ferndale is a quiet neighborhood on the western shore of Lake Apopka. You and your pooch can enjoy walks along country roads here. When you want to get some exercise on a puptacular trail, take fido just north of town to the Green Mountain Scenic Overlook trailhead. This paved, multi-use trail offers spectacular views of the Lake County Region. Hike or jog along the pathway with your four-footed pal. The area includes benches, pet waste stations, water fountains, an observation tower, and more. Dogs are permitted provided they're kept on a leash that's no longer than six feet.

Highland Ridge/Park Ridge

Highland Ridge/Park Ridge

The neighborhood of Highland Ridge/Park Ridge, on the north shore of Lake Minneola, is about eight miles southwest of Ferndale. This peaceful lakeside community offers easy access to a pawtastic 220-acre preserve that includes an off-leash play area. Take your pup to the Clermont Dog Park at Lake Hiawatha Preserve and let him romp and play in this enclosed area with other canine companions. There are separate areas for large and small dogs and water fountains for you and your pooch. You can also leash up and walk the hiking trails through the preserve. Remember to clean up after your pup while in the area.

Minneola/Clermont

Minneola/Clermont

The neighborhood of Minneola/Clermont is about seven miles southwest of Ferndale. This area includes a community park with a furriffic off-leash area where your your canine companion can play with other pups. Head to Minneola Trailhead Park off Madison Street to treat your pal to some social time. This facility includes separate fenced areas for large and small dogs. There are open areas and shade trees here along with water fountains and dog waste stations. After your pup has time to run freely, go for a walk on the trails in the rest of the park. Remember to keep your pup on a leash up to six feet long when you leave the off-leash area.

Montverde

Montverde

Monteverde is just under three miles south of Ferndale along the western shore of Lake Apopka. This community has three small city parks and a nice trail where you and your pup can stretch your legs. Head over to Truskett Park to hop on the Montverde Greenway. This paved pathway was converted from an old railroad track. You and your pooch can get a mile round-trip walking or jogging along the trail. After you get some exercise, stop by Green Mountain Pizza on 7th Street. Dogs are welcome to lounge by you at one of the outdoor tables while you enjoy a calzone, pasta, or pizza.
Downtown Clermont

Downtown Clermont

Just over eight miles southwest of Ferndale, the neighborhood of Downtown Claremont has a pawtastic park that dogs and their owners can enjoy together. Bring your pup to Waterfront Park on Montrose Street to hike or jog on the paved trail that meanders along Lake Minneola. Take some time to enjoy the beach area or bring along some food and have a picnic at one of the tables. Dogs are permitted in the park and along the trail provided they're kept on a leash that's up to six feet long. There are waste bags and disposal stations available for your convenience.
