Duncan Drive and Lane Park
Tavares has its very own off-leash park, and you'll find it on the western side of the city in the Duncan Drive and Lane Park neighborhood. Lake Idamere Park is a 45-acre park with a one-mile nature trail, a two-mile hiking trail, sports fields, playgrounds, and the off-leash dog park. The Lake Idamere Dog Park has separate sections for dogs of different sizes, and there's also a variety of agility equipment in the park, including ramps and tunnels. With the exception of the playgrounds, your dog is welcome to join you in other areas of Lake Idamere Park as long as they're on a leash.36

Palm Gardens
Palm Gardens is an area of Tavares that offers visitors and residents the rustic Floridian atmosphere that so many people crave. There are mobile home parks and plenty of restaurants in this area along the Dead River, and it's a can't-miss spot in Tavares. You and your dog can visit the Hurricane Dockside Grill in Palm Gardens for a casual bite to eat, and you're both sure to be impressed. The large patio always welcomes dogs, and the servers tend to bring bowls of water out for canine guests. Their menu includes items like steaks, sandwiches, fresh seafood, and much more. If you're lucky, you might even be there on a day that Hurricane Dockside Grill has live music!24

Massey Avenue
Winter Garden is a city in Orange County, Florida and the eastern edge of town is only 30 miles from Tavares. That's where you'll find the West Orange Dog Park, a spacious off-leash park with big and small dog sections as well as time-out pens. Visitors love how clean and well-maintained this dog park is, and dogs get a kick out of the pieces of agility and play equipment in the park. There are often plastic pools set up for dogs to swim in at West Orange Dog Park, and there's also a water fountain and bowls. If you're visiting the park with a wheelchair or stroller, you'll appreciate the concrete walking path through the dog park.12

Arlington Ridge
Pear Park is a nature center and conservation area in southeastern Leesburg, Florida, and it's only 15 miles from Tavares. This 268-acre park has several miles of trails to explore, and along the way, you'll come across all sorts of interesting plant and wildlife species. Other areas of the park include pavilions, butterfly gardens, and an off-leash dog park. The Pear Dog Park has several different sections for small, medium, and small dogs, and there are also enclosures where dogs of all sizes can play. The dog park has plenty of drinking water for dogs, waste disposal supplies, seating areas, and dog bathing stations.
