My name is Ryan and I am a professional guitar instructor, but I also happen to love dogs! I currently have a pet Papillon named Brando but I do have experience with larger dogs including my previous German Shepherd. I am so excited to hang out with all the fluffy pals that I will meet through Wag!

Dog Walking in Lakeland

Situated close to Tampa in sunny Florida is the small city of Lakeland. Full of charm, markets, flowers, and of course, swans, it is truly a unique destination. Lakeland is famous for its care and concern for swans, almost as much as England. They also provide plenty of lovely places for take your other animal companions as well.

Lakeland became famous for their swans as early as 1920, when people were keeping them as pets. Preposterous to think about in today's society, isn't it? Unfortunately, the swan population in Lakeland died out completely about thirty years later. Lucky for Lakeland, a kind woman named Mrs. Robert Pickhardt reached out to the Queen for assistance. Queen Elizabeth is famously known for her ownership of all swans in England, so of course she obliged this request. Now, sixty years later, the swan population flourishes once again in Lakeland. If you are ever there in October, you may be lucky enough to watch the annual "Swan Round-Up"; this is an event where veterinarians round up every swan in Lakeland to check on their health. It is a big deal, and nearly everyone in the town goes to watch it.

If you are not so much the avian type, there are still plenty opportunities of things to do with your furry friends. For example, there is a lovely dog park who was erected in memory of a K-9 Unit dog who was killed in the line of duty. There are both on and off-lead areas where your dog can play. You can even let Fido test his skills on an agility course! Also, for added safety, there are separated areas for big and little dogs, so no one gets their paws stepped on. Lakeland is a wonderful place to take in the sunshine and warmth and what better way to do it with your pet at your side? Try something unique today and visit Lakeland!
