Ankeny
Ankeny is 25 miles east of Minburn. Ankeny Dog Park is located at 1155 SW Ankeny Road. This fairly new dog park, made up of 7.5 acres, has many amenities. It has a large fenced enclosure, and a separate area for the small dogs. There is a half-acre enclosure that gives access to a pond. The dog park has water fountains designed for dog and people, and waste bags are also supplied. There’s plenty of grass here for Fido to roll around in, and a few trees within the park provide some shade. Visitors must get a pass from the city to use the dog park. There is a nice walkway around the dog park for extra on-leash exercise. Ankeny Dog Park is open from sunrise to sunset.36
Windsor Heights
Windsor Heights is 29 miles southeast of Minburn. Windsor Height Dog is located at 6900 School Road. This dog park is a fenced enclosure for off-leash play and socialization. Drinking water is not available on-site, so be sure to bring your own. The dog park has several waste stations inside the enclosures. There is a separate, safe space for the little dogs. The dog park features a few pieces of obstacle equipment so pups can try a vault or crawl through a tunnel for more amusement. The ground in this dog park is covered in mulch. Picnic tables and benches are mostly positioned under mature shade trees. Visiting dogs can also take a dip in the small creek that runs through the dog park!

West Des Moines
West Des Moines is 29 miles southeast of Minburn. Raccoon River Dog Park is located at 2500 Grand Avenue. This dog park has 12 acres for you and your pup to explore together. There is a separate area for small dogs. This dog park has a great variety of terrains that you and your pup can enjoy, and is set in a natural forested area with trails winding through it. Fido will love sniffing out the sand, grass, and brush here. Water fountains designed for both people and dogs are available. Waste stations are provided for those necessary cleanups. Human companions have many benches on which to rest in the front areas of the dog park. Many are, thankfully, positioned under trees. IN the summer months, a kiddie pool is available for dogs to splash in with their fur-iends. Access to this dog park is by permit only; registration is available through the city.

Altoona
Altoona is 40 miles east of Minburn, but the drive is well worth it for Altoona Dog Park. This dog park has fully fenced enclosures for large and small dogs. The entire dog park has an acre where dogs can get off their leash, stretch their legs, and make a few new fur-iends. The ground is mostly covered with mulch. Patches of grass give dogs a variety of things to sniff at. Water is available on-site, and there are waste stations situated throughout the dog park. A few piece of agility equipment add to the variety of things to do here. Human companions have a few benches. There is no fee to use this dog park, which is open from sunrise to sunset.
Ames
Ames is 42 miles northeast of Minburn. This small city offers many amenities for a person with a pup. Ames Dog Park is located at 605 Billy Sunday Road. This dog park has ten acres of land for your pup to have some fun off his leash. A separate area is set aside for the small dogs. Water fountains designed for people and their pups are available in this dog park. Waste stations are conveniently located for those necessary cleanups. A couple of red benches give people a place to take a break while keeping an eye on their pup. Visitors to this dog park must obtain a pass from the city. Annual and daily passes are offered.
