Huntingburg, Indiana was once a popular area for hunting, which is probably how it got its name. This is a community that loves to be outside, which makes it pawfect for vacationing with your dog. There is plenty of dedicated outdoor space where you can enjoy the fresh air while getting to know the locals of the area. History is also important in Huntingburg, which is evident in the Huntingburg Commercial Historic District. Many of the buildings here date back to the 19th century, and the entire district is listed on the National Register of Historic Sites.

You might recognize Huntingburg's ballfield from the pawpular film A League of Their Own, starring Tom Hanks and Madonna. Be sure to stop by with Fido while you're in town! The ball field is open from dusk to dawn every day. You and your dog can take a walk around the field, see the mementos posted in the dugout, or relive the adventure of the movie. You must have a leash, but other than that, you are free to explore!

Jasper is roughly thirteen miles from Huntingburg. Here, you will find Lions Riverview Park. There is a reconstruction of the original houses here, but dogs are not allowed inside. You can walk the grounds if you have your dog on a leash and remember to clean up after him.

One of the best things about Huntingburg is that it has its very own bark park! It is a members-only dog park, but you can go to city hall and get a visitor pass if you are just visiting the area. Be sure to bring proof of current vaccinations with you. The Huntingburg Bark Park is an off-leash park where you can let your dog socialize in a safe environment. Water is available, and the cleaning station is always stocked with doggie waste bags, so all you need is plenty of energy to play. You and Fido will pawsitively love this well-maintained park!

You'll have to drive just about thirty miles to get to Rockport, but trust us -- the drive is well worth it for a doggie movie date! The Holiday Drive-in lets you bring your pup with you to catch the latest showings. There is a concession stand where you can get all your favorite movie snacks like popcorn and hotdogs. You cannot ever leave your dog alone, not even in your car. You have to keep him on a leash as well. It is the pawfect place for a family movie night! Just remember to stop by the ATM first because this retro spot is cash only.
