Dogs must stay on their leashes at all parks in this neighborhood. These parks, although a little on the smaller side, make the downtown neighborhood a doggone good place to visit.

The Southside neighborhood brings dogs and their people so much closer to the great outdoors. Kesling Park, located at 2950 A Street, has 90 acres of the woods, fields, and recreational sites. A nature trail and a fitness trail are offered for those looking to explore or get a little exercise. There's also a walking track, benches, and numerous water fountains along the way. Dogs must remain on their leashes at Kesling Park. For some off-leash exercise, dogs can head a bit further south to Luhr County Park at 3178 S. 150th. Luhr has a 1-acre dog park where dogs can run leash-free and get a sniff of a friend or two. La Porte County requires visitors to obtain a permit before using the park. Permits are available for residents and nonresidents for daily or annual use.

The sprawling Northwest neighborhood is dotted with places to stay and parks to play in. Creek Ridge County Park at 7943 W. 400 has a large dog park for dogs to run leash-free and socialize.
