Northwest West Olive

Northwest West Olive is a beautiful part of the town that runs along the shoreline of Lake Michigan. One of the best places in West Olive to experience the shoreline with your dog is at Kirk Park Dog Beach. This beach has an entire separate section for dogs where they can run and swim and play in the water. There are restrooms and vending machines at the beach, too, and as long as you bring towels for you and Fido to dry off after you hit the surf, you'll be all set for a day of fun at Kirk Park Dog Beach!

North West Olive

North West Olive is home to beautiful forests and plenty of nature to explore with your best friend at your side. Make sure you visit the Hiawatha Forest if you're in the area, as both you and your pet will adore this beautiful off-leash area. There are 365 acres to sniff, and you just might come across some wildlife along the way. During colder months, Hiawatha Forest is a winter wonderland, so if you have a pet who loves the snow, this will be their new favorite place! You will also come across lighthouses and miles of stunning Michigan shoreline.

South West Olive

Another great place to take in the gorgeous Michigan scenery in West Olive is at the Port Sheldon Natural Area in South West Olive. This natural area has rolling hills, ponds, creeks, and hiking trails that span over 440 acres. Dogs are allowed off-leash here, but you'll want to keep them on a leash if listening isn't their strong suit because deer hunting is permitted in the area. Adventurous types love this area during the winter for its excellent cross-country skiing trails, and many people (and their dogs!) opt for doing off-trail hiking at Port Sheldon as well.

Lakeshore Dr/ Lincoln St

The Lakeshore Drive and Lincoln Street area in West Olive is heavily wooded and in close proximity to several beaches and a lot of gorgeous land to explore! Included in this land perfect for exploring is the Norman F. Kruse Park. At the northern end of this park, there's a dog beach that Rover will love! Dogs must be leashed while they're in the sand, but they're welcome to go for a dip leash-free. This large dog beach is a local favorite, and visitors love how clean the beach is and how friendly its patrons are!

Grand Haven

Just a fifteen-minute drive from West Olive is Grand Haven, Michigan. Grand Haven is seated on the eastern shore of Lake Michigan which makes it a great vacation destination. Grand Haven is a relaxed city with plenty of soft-sand beaches that both you and your dog will love to run and play on. The Grand Haven City Beach has a designated area for dogs to play, and the entire beach park is almost 20 acres. Make sure you check ahead of time for the designated "dog hours", and keep in mind your pet must be on a leash at all times when you visit this beach.
