City Center
The Magee City Park is located on 6th Street and provides a great place to spend time with the kids and your pup. There is a walking path around the park where Fido can roll in the grass and sniff the trees. The kids can hang out at the playground, and there is plenty of shade. After walking around and letting your pooch get some exercise, relax on a bench while your pup drinks some water from a bowl and enjoys the sunshine. You will want to bring some doggie waste bags, and there are trash receptacles located near the parking lot.

Southeast Mendenhall
About five miles northwest of Magee, pups and their family can spend the day at the Simpson Legion Lake in nearby Mendenhall. There are puptastic hiking trails around the water, and you can go fishing on the shores of the lake. Pup parents are often out and about walking Fido, so you will need to make sure to keep your pooch on a leash. You can relax at one of the picnic tables and chat with friends while the pups socialize and sniff butts. The park ranger is also usually roaming around if you have any questions or need information about the trails. On the way home, plan to stop by Bumpers Drive-In for a great meal in a nostalgic atmosphere. You can choose from a variety of menu items and pups are welcome at the outdoor tables.

City Center
One of the best pooch-friendly destinations in the area is the D’Lo Water Park in Mendenhall. The huge area is perfect to spend time with the family camping or canoeing on the lake or hiking along the trails. The peaceful atmosphere is wonderful if you need some time away from the busy city. You can stroll with Fido through the woods and admire the plants and trees while your pup has a snifftastic time. You will need to keep your pup on his leash and the kids can play at the playground, or enjoy a picnic at one of the pavilions.

Mount Olive
About twelve miles south of Magee, the Dry Creek Reservoir and Campground is located in the small town of Mount Olive. Families who enjoy spending time in the outdoors can pitch a tent or bring a camper to enjoy the fresh air and nature trails. The campground is well maintained and the staff is friendly and helpful. There is a sand volleyball pit and a sandy area where the kids can play near the water. You can walk around the reservoir with your pup and get some exercise before heading back to the campsite to roast some marshmallows for smores. Your pup will love chasing the butterflies and rolling around in the grass while you relax and enjoy quality time together.

Prentiss
You can access the Longleaf Trailhead from Front Street in the town of Prentiss, and enjoy an energetic hike through scenic towns and wooded areas. The Gateway to the trail is near a wooden building with a pavilion where you can make sure you and your pooch are ready for some fun. The trail follows along an old railroad track, and is well maintained for cyclists, as well as pedestrians getting some exercise with their furry companions. Along the way, you will find a couple shelters where you can take a break, and there is even a bathroom at the Prentiss trailhead. If you want to spend the night in the area, the Jeffersonian Motor Inn allows pups to stay for an additional fee.
