7th Avenue/Ocean Avenue

Belmar Beach has many access points throughout the town, but the 7th Avenue area beach is especially popular! It is colorful and family-friendly. Dogs are allowed on-leash in certain areas, be sure to obey posted signs! Much of the beach is accessible via the boardwalk to even visitors with walking aids or baby strollers! The boardwalk ramps will take you halfway down the beach to make it possible for the whole family to enjoy the water regardless of ability! If you are visiting the beaches with your fur family, make sure you pack plenty of drinking water and waste baggies!

Westport at Belmar

Westport at Belmar is a well-known condo community if you are looking for a quiet and well-kept neighborhood to call home. The homes are moderately priced for the area, and there's usually plenty of availability, especially for smaller units with less than three bedrooms. If you are moving into the area, The Windmill is a local hot dog spot with plenty of outdoor seating that allows you to bring your dog for a delicious foot-long treat! You will want to keep a leash on your pup while you eat, and keep an eye on him in case he needs to go for a quick walk!

Main Street/5th Avenue

This area will lead you right to the viewpoints of the Shark River. In the late 1800s, it was said that a large shark washed upstream into the bay and died. That, mixed with the abundance of fossilized shark teeth found on the shoreline, gave the river its notorious name. Right off of Main Street, Doughboys Pizza is a top-rated restaurant with wood-fired pizzas and brick oven pizzas to choose from! There are also other Italian style dishes if you aren't in the mood for a pizza. You can even order some pizzas by the slice! Your pup can sit with you at one of their six outdoor tables.

Allaire State Park

Just 15 minutes from Belmar is the gorgeous, tail-wagging Allaire State Park. This state park was once the site of a thriving iron industry in the early 19th century. The Pine Creek Railroad also operated steam trains through the area. The Manasquan River winds through the entirety of this park, making it a great fishing spot! There is plenty of room to nature watch or just casually stroll through, observing the beauty all around you. The trails are open to hikers, bikers, and even equestrians! There are trash bags available throughout the park, and some of the trails are partially ADA accessible.

Northeast (Northeast Asbury Park)

The northeastern part of Asbury Park, just ten minutes from Belmar, is home to the 8th Avenue Dog Beach! This beach is well worth the drive from October 1st through May 15th, when pups are allowed to stroll the boardwalk and beaches with their humans. When bringing your pup out on the town, you will need to follow some basic rules like keeping proof of licensing and vaccination with you and making sure your dog does not exhibit any aggressive behavior while outdoors. Keeping your dog with you and within your verbal control is also a must in this area.
