You'll also want to give their fresh coffee a try at this casual and relaxed New Jersey restaurant. Guests of On Third love how dog-friendly this restaurant is and appreciate that staff brings out bowls of water for canine visitors.

Central Spring Lake

If you are looking for the perfect slice of pizza in Spring Lake -- and let's face it, who ISN'T looking for the perfect slice of pizza? -- head to central Spring Lake where you'll find Spring Lake Pizzeria and Restaurant. This restaurant is a town staple and popular with both visitors and residents. It's a casual Italian eatery that serves not only pizza, but dishes such as pasta, seafood, and chicken. Spring Lake Pizzeria and Eatery has four outdoor tables that are dog-friendly, so there's no need to leave your dog at home when you are ready to dig into some delicious Italian food.

North Asbury Park

In under 20 minutes, you can drive from Spring Lake to Asbury Park, New Jersey. Here, you'll find the 8th Ave Dog Beach, which is an excellent spot to take your dog for some exercise. From October 1st to May 15th, dogs are welcome here all day, and you'll find dogs playing both on and off leash. During the summer months, dogs are welcome on the beach after 6 PM and before 8:30 AM, so make sure you're aware of these hours before you decide to visit. Dogs and people who visit this dog beach love how friendly all the other dogs and humans are and how easy it is to make friends here.

Southeast Highlands

Highlands, New Jersey, is about a 45-minute drive from Spring Lake, and this drive will get you to Sandy Hook Unit. Although it is considered a beach, Sandy Hook is definitely a more wild and rustic beach than others. It is fun to explore with your dogs, who are welcome to join you provided they are on a leash at all times. This beach is peaceful and the waves are gentle, which make it a nice place to get some peace and quiet with your four-legged best friend. You can also get great views of Highlands here and watch ferries coming and going to and from New York.

East Asbury Park

Some restaurants and bars are dog-friendly, and some go above and beyond to accommodate our canine companions. An 18-minute drive from Spring Lake will get you to Wonder Bar in east Asbury Park. Wonder Bar is a great place to sip on delicious drinks and listen to live music, and the best part is, noon to 7 PM, seven days a week, is called "Yappy Hour." During Yappy Hour, dogs are welcome in the fenced-in portion of the bar that even has small pools for dogs to keep cool in, and there is even an agility area! Mondays and Wednesdays from 4 PM to 7 PM are reserved for small dogs only so they can play safely with dogs of the same size.
