Chews Landing

Chews Landing

If you are looking for a spacious area for your pup to run around, this neighborhood, just 20 miles from Elmer, has the perfect park for you: Timber Creek Park. This park has an off-leash dog park that encompasses 9 fenced-in acres where your dog can explore safely. This dog park sits inside the regular park, which is 60 acres of wooded land. However, your dog must be on a leash if he wants to explore outside the dog park. There are several trails in this area which lead to a lake where your furry friend is welcome to swim after a long day of roaming around! Some of the trails are paved and others are just a path made in through the wooded area. There are also picnic tables, seating and shade trees for your comfort. You will need to pack all of your essentials, such as water and supplies for cleaning up after your canine pal.

Northern Blackwood

Northern Blackwood

If you and your canine friend are looking for a nice trail to hike together, you'll want to check out Blackwood Railroad Trail, located about 20 miles from Elmer. This former rail line is now part of the Rails-To-Trails Conservancy. This trail is 2.7 miles long and the trail surface is asphalt, so you'll need to be careful; if it gets too hot on the paved trail, your pup’s paws may get hurt. This trail runs through mainly wooded areas, so there will be plenty of shade for you and your pooch. You will want to bring water along for both of you; even though this is an easy trail to hike, you will need to keep hydrated. Grab your pup’s leash and enjoy a furrific day hiking.
