Just six minutes from Mount Royal is the busy West Deptford Park. This park has a little bit of something for everyone. For children, it has an ample playground. For adults, basketball courts and open sports fields. Dogs will love to follow the walking paths through the park; the trees lining these paths make for a charming stroll. You may have to do a couple laps to tire out high energy dogs, as this park isn’t huge! Of course, if you’ve taken in the meadows, the playground, the paths, and the courts, you can enjoy another park feature: West Deptford Park’s great benches!

Thorofare

Field of Dreams is a project as ambitious as its name. This park, located in the Thorofare neighborhood of West Deptford Township just eight minutes from Mount Royal, is a sight to behold. First, the park features a large baseball field. This field is typically used for league sports as well as pick up games. The playground in the park consists of whimsical wooden structures that form mazes, two story play sets, and more. Your dog will love exploring the various nooks and crannies of this park, and there’s ample room to exercise a leashed dog without running into big crowds.

Verga

Verga in West Deptford Township is home to Crescent Park. This is a great, convenient neighborhood park. If you’re looking to stop somewhere to quickly work some energy off your dog, this place is great. The compact size makes it easy to turn your speed up and power walk off some jitters. Dogs will love the opportunity to people-watch or sniff out the various interesting scents. At the same time, this park is only 11 minutes from your base camp at central Mount Royal. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing destination for an hour, an afternoon, or just a place to stretch your dog’s legs, this is it!

Woodbury Gardens

No trip to the Mount Royal area would be complete without taking the 12 minute drive out to Woodbury Gardens. This neighborhood of Westville hosts the most popular dog park in the area! Social dogs will love the opportunity to make new friends every time they play! There are two fully fenced areas for off leash play. The large and small dog sections are kept separate so everyone can find the right playmates. While the park is light on things like obstacle courses, it’s got plenty of room and plenty of dogs to play with! Remember: BYOW--bring your own water!

Blackwood Terrace

Deptford Township is a small community just 15 minutes from Mount Royal. Fasola Park is a hugely popular park for the area. The splash pad in the summer months is a new addition (and sadly humans only), but there’s so much to see here! The playground is great for kids, but your dog is going to love the pond. Go for a brisk walk around to burn off energy. Burn off even more by stopping at the workout stations along the way. You and your dog can both be ready for a good night’s sleep when you’re done at Fasola Park!
