Mount Royal will make your dog feel like royalty. No matter how much you pamper her in real life, any dog will feel like a princess in Mount Royal. This tiny town has less than 800 residents, but is surrounded by a full and thriving community. Make Mount Royal, New Jersey, your home base as you explore the pawsome amenitites in the surrounding areas. While this small town doesn't have any vets of its own, there is one available just to the east in Mantua Township, with plenty more in surrounding towns.
The Glassboro Wildlife Management Area in the nearby town of Clayton is something that brings people to the county from all over the state and beyond, and is just twenty minutes from Mount Royal. Leashed dogs are welcome to join you on the hiking paths. To preserve the wildlife part of the wildlife area, cross field travels are prohibited. Bring your own water, as this park doesn't have drinking fountains. The swampy forest lands offer an amazing view of New Jersey's natural landscape. Glassboro Wildlife Management Area is also a migration station, so bird watchers will be thrilled!
Mount Royal and the surrounding areas show the side of New Jersey that visitors often miss--and locals love!
Just six minutes from Mount Royal is the busy West Deptford Park. This park has a little bit of something for everyone. For children, it has an ample playground. For adults, basketball courts and open sports fields. Dogs will love to follow the walking paths through the park; the trees lining these paths make for a charming stroll. You may have to do a couple laps to tire out high energy dogs, as this park isn’t huge! Of course, if you’ve taken in the meadows, the playground, the paths, and the courts, you can enjoy another park feature: West Deptford Park’s great benches!
No trip to the Mount Royal area would be complete without taking the 12 minute drive out to Woodbury Gardens. This neighborhood of Westville hosts the most popular dog park in the area! Social dogs will love the opportunity to make new friends every time they play! There are two fully fenced areas for off leash play. The large and small dog sections are kept separate so everyone can find the right playmates. While the park is light on things like obstacle courses, it’s got plenty of room and plenty of dogs to play with! Remember: BYOW--bring your own water!
Deptford Township is a small community just 15 minutes from Mount Royal. Fasola Park is a hugely popular park for the area. The splash pad in the summer months is a new addition (and sadly humans only), but there’s so much to see here! The playground is great for kids, but your dog is going to love the pond. Go for a brisk walk around to burn off energy. Burn off even more by stopping at the workout stations along the way. You and your dog can both be ready for a good night’s sleep when you’re done at Fasola Park!
