Essington Town Center
Essington Town Center is just over two miles from Ridley Park, and is such a dog-friendly neighborhood. Your pooch will no doubt love the Governor Printz Park, as this large stretch of green offers pawtastic views of both the boats in the water as well as planes taking off and landing from the nearby airport. The grassy Manor Field also makes for a great walk, although be sure to keep your pup on a lead, as there are quite a few deer that roam this area. If you need somewhere local to spend the night with Fido, there are a few dog-friendly hotels in this neighborhood, such as the Motel 6 Essington, which welcomes three pets of any size in each guest room for no fee, and the Airport Waterfront Inn, which allows two pets for a small fee.

Swarthmore
There are some pawsome walks to be had in the small town of Swarthmore, which is just over two miles from Ridley Park. Crum Woods boasts 220 acres of secluded forest land, one of the last in the region, and there are around three and a half miles of trails for you and Fido to explore here. Little Crum Creek Park is also popular, and is the largest park in Swarthmore, with an incredibly diverse range of vegetation. The Thatcher Park is known for its large play areas, and is fenced in on all sides. For those looking for somewhere dog-friendly to spend the night, The Inn at Swarthmore allows pets of any size in guest rooms for an additional fee.

Wallingford
It takes about ten minutes to drive from Ridley Park to the small town of Wallington, where there are even more pawsome parks to explore. Furness Park is a beautiful wooded park, with so many trees for Fido to sniff at, while Hepford Park stretches out for four acres, and features sports fields, a playground and a paved walking path. This neighborhood also provides access to the 45 acre Houston Park, with its sports facilities and picnic areas, as well as a walking trail that winds its way through a mature forest. The four acre Sapovits Park is also heavily wooded, and contains a playground, sports facilities and picnic tables, along with some grills.

Folcroft Borough Center
The Folcroft Borough Center is just over three miles from Ridley Park, and is where you will find one of the most popular attractions in the region. The John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge is 1200 acres in size, and not only boasts wooded areas and a pond, but also the largest freshwater tidal marsh in all of Pennsylvania. When it comes to exploring the park, there are ten miles of trails here to help you and Fido do so, and these will take the two of you through the park's various habitats, as well as past some popular spots for watching birds and wildlife.

S Macdade Blvd/ W South Ave
Three miles from Ridley Park is the S Macdade Blvd/ W South Ave neighborhood of Glenolden, and this is an area that dogs tend to love. This neighborhood provides access to the large Glenolden Park, which was originally established in the 1930's. The park not only contains sports facilities and play areas, but this is also a haven for many different wildlife species, making it vital that you keep your pooch on a lead at all times. After you have walked up an appetite, treat Fido to a meal at the dog-friendly A. J. Stephen's Crab House, where the two of you can feast on a variety of delicious seafood dishes.
