Dog Areas in Essington

6 Parks

Essington is located on Tinicum Island in Pennsylvania. The Tinicum Township is the first known European settlement in Pennsylvania and was a Swedish colony. The Governor Prinz Park includes the remnants of the foundation of The Printzhof, the home of the first governor, Johan Bjornsson Printz, of New Sweden. The capital of the Swedish colony was originally near Wilmington, Delaware and was later moved to Tinicum Island. Essington loves its dogs, but no veterinarians reside inside of Essington. However, five clinics are within five miles of the town, and are at the ready to provide services to your fur baby.

Throughout town you can enjoy a view of the river and the activity of the airport. Manor Field has an informal dog park that includes a fenced area for dogs to run off-leash and exercise. Water is available nearby, and dog owners are expected to monitor the area and clean up after their pets.

When visiting the area, stay at the Red Roof Plus Inn where one pup is welcomed to stay with you overnight. Pets are required to be crated when they are left in the room alone. Red Roof does not charge additional fees for your pup, and all rooms are dog-friendly.

Historical Essington invites you and your pup to enjoy its quiet community and serene parks .

    #1 Lester

Lester Park is a wide-open space park with few amenities. A small playground and swings is available for children, and the large open lawn is a great place for a leashed and quiet walk with your pup. Check out Manor Park where there's a nice walking track for an on-leash walk with your pooch. The open expanse of lawn in the center of the park makes a great playground for Fido to enjoy a round of Fetch. Try a walk among the trees at the outer perimeter of the park; there's sure to be some sniff-tastic adventures to be found.
