There's furrific, fur-iendly parks just five miles out of Westbury! You and your leashed dog will love taking a walk in Kennedy Memorial Park, the gem of Hempstead’s Long Beach Rd/ Baldwin Rd neighborhood! Hop on the paved loop trail and stretch your legs with your pup by your side. The Kennedy Memorial Park has tons of fun for kiddos too, including a huge playground and ballfields. South Roslyn

There’s pawsome fun to be had in the South Roslyn neighborhood! About six miles from Westbury, this Roslyn neighborhood is home to the Christopher Morley Park Dog Run! Though modest in size, this fully fenced-in off-leash park has a reputation for friendly patrons and tons of tail wagging. Your pooch will have a blast socializing and sniffing all over this area. Large and small dogs share this park, so if your little pup is a teeny bit timid, you may want to explore a different pawsome park in the area. You and Fido will find this furrific off-leash area on the north side of the parking lot at Christopher Morley Park.

South Wantagh

Are you or your pooch a bit of a neat freak? Then head to the South Wantagh neighborhood, about eight miles from Westbury! You won’t find any mud puddles or dirty paws at the Wantagh Park Dog Run – it’s covered entirely in AstroTurf! Visiting this fully enclosed off-leash area is like taking a pawsome romp in a football stadium. Your pooch will love the year-round, durable surface that has proven to be perfect for playtime and socialization with other pups. There is a covered area that provides shade for warm humans and hot dogs, and a separate area for small dogs. Pack a water bottle and cleanup bags for your pawsome outing!

North Old Bethpage

Hear ye! Hear ye! Puptacular fun awaits thee in the village of Old Bethpage! About 10 miles from Westbury, this neighborhood’s Old Bethpage Village Restoration Dog Run is a furrific, fully enclosed off-leash area situated within a recreated 19th-century village! To add to the uniqueness of this dog run, there is an environmentally-friendly rain catchment system that filters rainwater into tasty refreshment for dogs! If your pooch is small in stature, there is a separate fenced-in area for teeny weinies, bitty Bichons, peewee Pekingese and other pint-sized pups under 30 pounds. The off-leash area has tons of shade, plenty of trees, doggie waste cleanup stations and benches where humans can hang out.

South Huntington

Does your dog need tons of open space? Visit the South Huntington neighborhood, about 14 miles from Westbury! Your dog will love this neighborhood’s West Hills County Dog Park! The facility is a huge fully fenced-in off-leash area where dogs can race, romp and roam until their hearts are content. If your dog has energy to burn, bring a ball or a Frisbee and ware him out in this grassy expanse! There’s also a wooded section of the park where your pooch is sure to pick up the scent of a pesky neighborhood squirrel. There is a doggie waste cleanup station located by the entrance of the park, plus water fountains for humans and pups in the warmer months. There is a small fee for entrance to the park.
