Berkley Heights
A little under 15 miles from Franklin is the Berkley Heights neighborhood of Kettering. This area is nestled along the river and has convenient access to one of the main highways that runs from the northern end to the southern end of Ohio. Berkley Heights is the home of a unique pawportunity for dogs and their owners to have some fun near Franklin. Take your dog to Splash Your Pup, an indoor pool made just for furry paws. The pool is heated to an ideal temperature for pups and has some fun diving areas for extra exercise! You can even use it as therapy for old or achy dogs.

McCook Field
Just over 19 miles from Franklin is the McCook Field neighborhood of Dayton. The Miami River runs through McCook Field and it’s just north of the Downtown Dayton area, making it a pupular spot for residents and visitors. On the east side of the river is Deeds Dog Park, an off-leash dog park where pups are welcome to run, play, and socialize off their leashes. You and your leashed dog can also check out Deeds Point Metro Park, which has plenty of green space for a picnic, a peace monument to enjoy, and trails for you and your pup to walk along.

Oregon
The Oregon neighborhood of Dayton is right near the city’s Downtown area, where you’ll find plenty of restaurants, shops, and even some dog-friendly hotels and a dog training facility. Oregon is just under 19 miles from Franklin and has some pup-friendly restaurants that welcome dogs to join their owners on their outdoor patios. Try Lily’s Bistro for some American favorites with Southern flair. Right down the road is Fifth Street Brew Pub, where you can grab a burger and beer. Or, head to Wheat Penny Oven and Bar, which has several dog-friendly tables and offers some interesting meal options, including vegetarian lunches and dinners.

Wetherington
Wetherington is a neighborhood in West Chester that’s about 17 miles south of Franklin on the way to Cincinnati. Here, you can take your pup to the Voice of America MetroPark, which has several athletic fields and places to enjoy the water during the summer or sled during the winter! There’s even a space meant just for furry paws known as the Wiggly Field Dog Park. This fully fenced area has three separate spaces for dogs of different sizes to play safely, and the park provides doggie waste bags for convenient clean-up. There are a few dog-friendly restaurants nearby, like Milano’s Atlantic City Submarines, which has eight tables for pooches.
Irwin Simpson Rd
The Irwin Simpson Rd area of Mason, OH offers plenty of things for its residents, including shops, restaurants, and a park. Located near the busy Mason-Montgomery Road that runs through Mason and its southern areas, this neighborhood is only minutes away from Kings Island amusement park and its water park, Soak City. You and your pup can play outside at Schappacher Park, which has playgrounds and picnic shelters for you to enjoy. Or, let Spot play off their leash at the on-site dog park, which is fully fenced and has several benches on which owners can relax. When you’re done, you can grab a steak at Firebirds Woodfired Grill at one of its outdoor, dog-friendly tables.
