Rossford is just 7 miles from Maumee. The best thing about this little suburban town located between Maumee
and Toledo is its proximity to the Maumee River. Rossford has several parks
that border the river, offering spectacular views for you to enjoy while your

Walbridge Park and the more rugged, fishing-friendly Island View Park. There is
only one dog friendly hotel in town and there is a fee and a weight/size

This little town, located 13 miles from Maumee, is right beside the massive, 5,000-acre Oak Openings Metro Park. This park is just part of the Oak Openings Preserve, which is a staggering 115,000 acres! There is also a trailhead to the 13-mile Wabash Cannonball Trail. If you decide to camp there’s a great camping and RV park with excellent facilities and no pet fees or restrictions. But if you decide to opt for a little more comfort, head to the budget-friendly Days Inn, which charges an additional fee for four-legged guests.

Sylvania
Located just under 20 minutes from Maumee, Sylvania is a nice town to visit with your four-legged friend for one attraction in particular. Fossil Park. If your doggy dude or dudette is a bit of a digger, then they’re really going to dig this place! This park is one of only two of its kind in the whole world; it’s a 5-acre, safe quarry where you and your doggy digger can find hundreds of fossils in the soft shale! Best part is, you get to keep 'em and bring 'em home. Just remember to bring sun protection and water on hot days. There is also a scenic trail to walk just in case Fido doesn’t want to fetch fossils.
