Mansion Hill is a neighborhood in Newport, Kentucky which sits on the Ohio-Kentucky border just outside of Cincinnati. It’s about 22 miles from New Richmond and is a great spot to visit on a day trip with your dog. Mansion Hill is on the waterfront of the Ohio River and also hosts the Newport Aquarium. You and your pup can visit one of several dog-friendly restaurants in the neighborhood, like The Crazy Fox Saloon, which will allow your pooch to join you at the bar or the outdoor seating area! Or, have some fun in the sun at Newport Dog Park, a pawtastic place for socialization and unleashed exercise.

Central Business District

A little over 21 miles from New Richmond is the Central Business District of Cincinnati. Locals and tourists love this waterfront neighborhood because of all the incredible attractions it hosts, like the Duke Energy Convention Center and the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. The Smale Riverfront Park is one spot in the neighborhood where you’ll want to hang out with your pooch. Located on the Ohio River, the beautiful park has picnic pavilions, a carousel, fountains, gardens, and more. Your leashed pup is welcome to enjoy the park with you. Check out the Ohio River Trail that also cuts through the park for some scenic exercise.

Over The Rhine

Over the Rhine is about 22 miles from New Richmond. This Cincinnati neighborhood is small but densely populated, as it’s one of the most popular residential areas in the city. Only minutes from downtown, Over the Rhine offers an excellent mix of city and suburban life. You can take your pooch to the dog park located in Washington Park for some outdoor fun and off-leash exercise. There’s even access to the creek that runs through the park for your pup to splash in! Check out the outdoor Findlay Market with your leashed pup for some excellent food and a fun shopping experience (there’s even a pet store called Pet Wants where he can come inside with you!).

Mount Lookout

On the eastern outskirts of Cincinnati is the Mount Lookout neighborhood of the city, which is about 18.8 miles from New Richmond. This area is mostly residential and sits close to a huge golf course, several parks, and the Ohio River. Mount Lookout is home to the Otto Armleder Memorial Park, a massive space that also features a recreational center and equine center. Your pup will love the Otto Armleder Dog Park located within that has a huge fenced-in area with three separate sections for small and large breeds. When you’re done playing, check out some of the dog-friendly dining spots, like Buona Terra, with outdoor dining areas available.

Oakley

Another suburban Cincinnati neighborhood, Oakley is just under 20 miles from New Richmond. Oakley offers an exciting business district with popular shopping centers, live music events, and more. Homes sell for prime prices here, but you’ll also be within minutes of Downtown Cincinnati, suburban parks, and commercial areas. The Red Dog Park is sure to delight your furry friends, offering an off-leash area for dogs of all sizes to play, plus some fun agility equipment and obstacles for extra fun and challenge. Aglamesis Brothers is a great place to stop for a sweet treat with Spot; there are a few dog-friendly tables outside.
