Downtown
Marathon, Ohio is an unincorporated community without any neighborhoods of its own. Fortunately, nearby Loveland, which is about 20.6 miles from Marathon, has some dog-friendly opportunities for dogs and their owners. The Downtown area of Loveland hosts a part of the Little Miami Scenic Trail, a paw-friendly trail in the Rails-to-Trails organization that stretches almost 80 miles through Loveland, Springfield, Anderson, and more, spanning five Ohio counties. This is the perfect spot for walking, hiking, and outdoor adventures! The neighborhood also is the home of Lil Paw Prints Animal Rescue Haven, offering animal rescue services by volunteers who love animals.

Plainville
About 22.3 miles from Marathon is Plainville, an Ohio community considered to be part of Cincinnati. Wagspark is a spot you and your pup will flip for! This fenced in dog park sits on a lake and your pup is welcome to dive in from the dock. Plus, the park vets animals for their temperament and obedience, so you can be sure your pooch is always safe around his other furry friends. The area is also one of the spots where the Little Miami Scenic Trail passes through, so you can hop on here, too. You and your dog can dine together at the 50 West Brewing Co., which has a variety of beers, desserts, and meals to choose from, on one of the outdoor seating areas.

Hyde Park
Around 27.7 miles from Marathon is Hyde Park in Cincinnati. This is one of the most populated parts of the city, located near a golf course, the Cincinnati Municipal Airport, and the Ohio River. This neighborhood has its own dog park, known as the Otto Armleder Dog Park, a 10-acre park that’s fully fenced and ready for your pooch to play, socialize, and run off some energy. And, your small breeds can stay protected with the separate areas for small and large dogs! Hyde Park also has several dog-friendly eateries, including Wurst Bar in the Square, with several unique dishes that you can feast on at an outdoor table.

Central Business District
The Central Business District in Cincinnati is around 34.7 miles from Marathon and is the home of the pup-ular Smale Riverfront Park. This gorgeous outdoor area has seating spots, walking paths, and two levels – one that gives you a beautiful view of the water and one that gives you easy access to the water’s edge. Leashed dogs are welcome! This neighborhood also has a professional photography business that specializes in pet photography and Pi Pizzeria, a local favorite pizza place that welcomes dogs at outdoor tables. You can also head to Jefferson Social for a casual eating experience and pull up a seat at an outdoor table with your pup.
Over The Rhine
Over-the-Rhine in Cincinnati is about 35.7 miles from Marathon. This neighborhood has a can’t-miss dog park within Washington Park that locals and tourists rave about. The huge outdoor space has plenty of square footage for your pooch, plus different terrain to explore. He can jump in the creek, run around large rocks and boulders, and play with toys with his friends! The neighborhood also has a few paw-friendly eating spots to choose from, including A Tavola, an Italian-inspired eatery with unique pizzas and other goodies. Neons Unplugged is a good option for going out with your friends and favorite pooch after work to unwind with one of several beers or spirits.
