Oak Street
This neighborhood is home to the Orwell trailhead for the Western Reserve Greenway, which welcomes dogs on-leash. This paved trail is 43 miles in total, and it mostly goes through beautiful rural areas. From Orwell, you can choose to either head north or south on the trail. If you head south from Orwell, you’ll pass by the lovely Mosquito Creek Wilderness Area, and you’ll also pass a stone arch bridge that goes over Baughman Creek. If you choose to head north, you’ll go by the Orwell Wilderness Area and Lake Roaming Rock. Hike as much of the trail as you’d like, and enjoy all the stunning views you’ll see along the way.

Mosquito Lake State Park
If you want to let your pup play off-leash, Cooperation Station Dog Park at Mosquito Lake State Park is pawfect for you! This dog park is 20 miles from Orwell, and it includes five fenced areas. These sections are separated into big and small dog areas. Every area offers large fields for your pup to play in, and there are trees to keep each section shady and cool. If your pup gets hot while they’re playing, they can go for a dip in nearby Mosquito Lake. There’s also drinking water available for them. Leashed dogs are welcome to explore the rest of the 2,500-acre state park.

Rosegarden Drive North
This Warren neighborhood is home to a furtastic park that welcomes dogs on-leash: Howland Township Park. Located 26 miles from Orwell, this park has numerous trails and paths you can walk on with your dog. This includes a lovely boardwalk that goes over wetlands. There’s also a paved 0.9-mile walking path that loops around the park. Bring some doggy bags and water for your pup, and have a great time hiking here. If you’d like to go for a bite to eat after the park, check out Barrels 33. This bistro offers a wide variety of small plates that are perfect for sharing, as well as salads, pasta dishes, and flatbreads.

Hickory Hill Colony
Hickory Hill Colony is home to the pawsitively amazing Holden Arboretum, which is 25 miles from Orwell. Dogs are welcome on-leash everywhere in this arboretum except for the Myrtle S. Holden Wildflower Garden. While you’re here, you and your pup can explore more than 20 miles of hiking trails that go through gardens and natural areas. One of the park’s most popular trails is the 1.5-mile Bole Woods Loop, which goes through a mature beech-maple forest that’s a National Natural Landmark. The 1.5-mile Conifer Trail is another popular choice. This stunning trail passes through meadows and groves of conifer trees. No matter which trail you choose, you’re sure to have a good time hiking here!

Bridlehurst
If you’re searching for another great off-leash area for your pup, check out Canine Meadow Dog Park. This dog park is 24 miles from Orwell, and it includes separate fenced areas for large and small dogs. There’s also a swimming area in the large dog area that dogs of all sizes can use. If your dog gets thirsty after all that swimming and running, doggy water fountains are available. After the dog park, continue your fun day out with lunch at Angelo’s Pizzeria. Sit at one of their many dog-friendly outdoor tables, and enjoy thin-crust pizzas, calzones, subs, and cannolis for dessert.
