Dog Walking in Westerville

Westerville, Ohio is a college town located just north of Columbus. With seven vets and animal hospitals inside the Westerville city limits, it’s clear residents prioritize the health of their treasured companions. Start your morning with a pup-friendly cup of coffee from local legend Java Central Coffee House, or try one of their lite fare breakfast sandwiches.

If you want a well-behaved (AKA, tired!) dog, tackle the Genoa Township Trail! It runs just north of Westerville in a 4-mile straight line, so be prepared to walk back as far as you go out! You could also try Glacier Ridge Trail in the Char-Mar Ridge Preserve for a shorter walk at a little over a mile and a half through beautiful and mature woodlands. This is a great alternative if it doesn’t take as much to tire your dog into good behavior!

Westerville has some great options for dog-friendly lodging. If your idea of luxury is a great campsite and all the stars in Ohio, check out the Tree Haven Camp Grounds. For a small pet fee, dogs can join you in your camper or tent! If you prefer the great indoors, Red Roof Inn Columbus Northeastern Westerville will let your pampered pet snooze at your side.

The Innswood Metro Gardens in Edenbrook are a restful place to walk your dog on leash. If your pup is too shy to enjoy a crowded park, this is the place to go. While pets are not allowed into the main gardens, there is a trail along the outside of the park that is dog-friendly. You can observe the gardens from the outside, and enjoy a walk that’s set apart from the hustle and bustle of the city. The dog-friendly trail is .6 miles and doesn’t loop, so it makes a great mild to moderate walk depending on briskness. Bring your own water bottle and bowl so your pup can stay hydrated!

Willamont is an unbeatable neighborhood when it comes to canine-friendly dining in Westerville. Your dog’s tail will be wagging all meal long if you go to one of these three restaurants within walking distance of one another. Start with Massey’s Pizza, where a variety of pizza styles and techniques live together under one roof. They have outdoor tables for dogs, but bring a friend, since they don’t provide table service outdoors! If you want to pick up a delicious sweet or savory treat for after, try Great Harvest Bread, a casual bakery with outdoor tables. For something fast, tasty, and different, Yogi’s Hoagies exists to bring your favorite sandwich combination to life.
