Fairview City Center

Fairview City Center

Although Fairview's City Center is quite a busy area, there are some pawtastic dog walks to be had here. Begin by exploring some of the neighborhood's parks, such as the Salish Ponds Wetlands Park. With fishing ponds, a wide variety of wildlife and vegetation, and a winding nature trail, this is a park that your dog will no doubt love. Park Cleone is also worth a visit, as this community park is not only home to a play structure, a large lawn, picnic areas and a walking path, but also to a picturesque raised boardwalk that leads to a pavilion overlooking a spring-fed creek.

Corbett

Corbett

The small town of Corbett is just a ten minute drive from Fairview, but is home to what your dog will consider to be absolute paradise. The Sandy River Delta Park, also known as Thousand Acres, is where you will find 1400 acres of open fields, wetlands and more, where your pooch can run free off the lead. While the dirt trails can get quite muddy at times, there is also a gravel path, so that you can make use of this area no matter the weather. Although you will not need a lead for Fido in this park, doggie bags and drinking water are still essential.

Madison South

Madison South

Just nine miles from Fairview is the Portland neighborhood of Madison South, where you will find a couple of attractions that your dog will love. Rocky Butte is one of these, an extinct volcanic cinder cone butte, at the top of which sits the Joseph Wood Hill Park. The 0.2 mile loop that takes you around the park offers some of the very best views to be had of Portalnd. For another pawsome walk, take your pup to The Grotto, a 62 acre Catholic shrine and botanical garden. Dogs are allowed to tour The Grotto with their owners, so long as they are kept on a lead at all times.

Gresham City Central

Gresham City Central

The City Center of Gresham is just three miles from Fairview, and there is quite a bit to see and do here. Main City Park is always popular with pooches, because not only is it home to sports facilities, a playground and picnic areas, but there is also a section of the park that has been designated as an off-lead dog area. While your pup is welcome to run free here, keep in mind that there are no fences, so you will need to make sure that you still have your dog under control. Main City Park is also located right on the Springwater Corridor Trail, a 21 mile paved trail that travels through the Portland metropolitan area.

NW Pleasant Valley

NW Pleasant Valley

The Gresham neighborhood of NW Pleasant Valley provides access to two incredible parks. The first is the Powell Butte Nature Park, a 612 acre park with an extinct volcanic cinder cone reaching 600 feet in height. There are nine miles of hiking trails for you and Fido to explore here, taking you through everything from cedar forests to sprawling grasslands. If your pooch could do with even more exercise, head on over to the Jenne Butte Park. At 6.7 acres, this park is much smaller, but still features wetlands, springs and other natural areas. While dogs are welcome at both of these parks, a lead is essential, as are doggie bags and some drinking water.
