Downtown
The City Park has some lovely green space for a walk with your pooch among the spring flowers and within walking distance to nearly everything Downtown. After you enjoy your walk, stop in at Grinders Coffee for a cuppa with your pup, or get some lunch at Petite Provence for a taste of France for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Your pooch is welcome at the outside tables with you. Zim’s Brau Haus Restaurant and Sports Bar welcome you and your pooch for one of its daily specials. Stay at the dog-friendly Oregon Motor Inn where your pooch is welcome for an additional fee.

Sorosis Park
Full body wags from your pup will be in order when you take him to Sorosis Park, where there is something for everyone. Your pooch will enjoy the pawsome trail through the Rose garden. You can both enjoy the views of the scenic Columbia River which are magnificent from this hilltop area. Take the running path around the edge of the park to tire out your best bud. The kids will enjoy the playgrounds that model the Fort Dalles Museum, as well as Frisbee golf, tennis and softball fields. You can’t miss with a trip to Sorosis Park.

E 2nd Street/ Dalles California Hwy
Your pup will enjoy a pawsome walk at the Riverfront Park on the Columbia River. The open area near the river makes a great stroll, especially if you’re staying at the dog-friendly Comfort Inn or Shilo Inn just next to the park. Your pup is welcome with you at these hotels for an additional fee, but call ahead to reserve a dog-friendly room. If camping, enjoy the picturesque View Point Trailer Court where you’re close to parks and beautiful views of the river. Your pup is welcome in camp on a leash. Check out dog-friendly Big Jim’s Drive-In burgers and one of the sixteen flavors of ice cream while enjoying the outdoor tables.

Westside
Head to this neighborhood in The Dalles for pet friendly accomodations. Check into the Fairfield Inn and Suites The Dalles where for a small fee, your pup can stay the night with you. Cousins Country Inn takes two pups of any size in a room for a small fee. The Motel 6 The Dalles welcomes one dog in your room for no additional fee! Grab some dinner before turning in for the night at the nearby Casa El Mirador for some tasty Mexican fare. Bring your pup to their outside tables while you chow down.
Rufus
Just to the east of The Dalles is the small town of Rufus, known for the Deschutes River State Recreation Area. Bring your leashed pup for an afternoon or overnight adventure throughout this beautiful area right where the Deschutes and Columbia Rivers meet. Enjoy some fishing or rafting on the rivers, hiking the amazing trails, or just camping out under the stars on a tent or RV site. The Atiyeh Deschutes River Trail is popular with hikers, and takes you along the Deschutes River for some pawrific sights and scents!
