Francis Marion National Forest
If you’re searching for a pawsitively amazing place to go for a hike with your dog, check out Francis Marion National Forest. This stunning forest allows dogs on-leash on many of its trails. One of the most popular trails in the park is the Palmetto Trail Awendaw Passage. This trail is 13.3 miles long and mostly flat. As you go along this trail, you’ll pass by a beautiful river, and you’ll go through a shady forest. If you’re looking for a shorter hike, check out the 1.9-mile Ion Swamp Interpretive Trail, which takes you on a loop through unique Ion Swamp. Bring water and doggy bags, and have a pawesome day out at the park!

Hampton Park Terrace
If you’re looking for a fun off-leash area for your dog, Hampton Park Dog Run is perfect for you. Located 28 miles from Huger, this area includes one big, fenced-in field where dogs can run and play together. There are plenty of trees to keep the park cool on hot days, and there are lots of benches for owners. Plus, the park also has a water spigot you can use to fill your pup’s water bowl. If you’re hungry after you’re done playing in the park, check out The Park Café. This café serves delicious grain bowls, sandwiches, burgers, and more. Dogs are welcome on their outdoor patio, and they’ll bring your dog a bowl of ice-cold water.

Archdale
Archdale is home to Magnolia Plantation and Gardens, a beautiful place to spend the day with your dog. This historic site is 36.5 miles from Huger, and it welcomes dogs on-leash. While you’re here, you and your dog can go for strolls through the plantation’s manicured gardens, which have thousands of stunning flowers. The gardens are also home to a lovely, peaceful creek. Plus, if your dog is small enough to carry, you can bring them into the historic plantation house, which was built in 1676. In this area, you’ll find a large grassy field where dogs can go for runs. Plus, the park also has agility equipment for your dog to play on, including tunnels and hurdles. If all the excitement makes your dog thirsty, water is available. Want to get a bite to eat after the park? Head to The Junction Kitchen, a casual restaurant that serves classic American comfort food. Pups are welcome to join you at their outdoor tables.

This neighborhood is home to a great park to take your pup for on-leash walks, Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park. Located 25 miles from Huger, this small but scenic park has a walkway along the beautiful Cooper River. The pathway is paved and flat, making it easy for pups to walk on, and there are trees that provide shade along the way. Bring doggy bags and water with you, and have fun walking here. If you’re hungry after your walk, check out Bacco. Sit at one of their dog-friendly outdoor tables, and enjoy authentic and flavorful Northern Italian cuisine.
