Downtown Moncks Corner
The busy downtown area of Moncks Corner isn’t short on peaceful green space! It’s in this area, on West Main St, that you can find the lovely Dr. William H. Lacey Memorial Park.This park features tennis courts, a playground, picnic areas and restrooms. There is also plenty of grassy areas that your pup will love to sniff and play on. Leashed dogs are welcome, as long as they get picked up after. When it’s time for a treat, head over to Ye Ole Ice Cream and Sandwich Cafe in the same neighborhood. This cafe offers a wide variety of delicious eats and sweet treats. You can dig into a sundae next to your best pal at one of the four outdoor pet friendly tables.

Overton Drive
On the north end of Moncks Corner, along the shore of Lake Moultrie, you can find the Overton Drive neighborhood, proud home to Overton Park. This is the perfect area to have a picnic at one of the sheltered tables with views of the water. If you forgot to pack a lunch, there are vending and drink machines available. Other amenities include grills and restrooms. Leashed dogs are welcome, so get ready to make some furry friends, and don’t forget the waste bags! If you want to stay in this area a little longer, why not check into Joint Base Charleston Short Stay. These campgrounds along the lake welcome leashed pets. There is also a bathhouse and convenience store within walking distance.

Cordesville
Just a hop into the neighboring town of Cordesville brings you to another puppy paradise! It’s from here that you can access the woofdeful Bonneau Ferry Wildlife Management Area, just a 20 minute drive from Moncks Corner. This area consists of 11000 acres of pine forests, wetlands and lakes. Hikers and their dogs are free to explore the many roads and pathways that meander through this wilderness. This area is teaming with wildlife as well, which attracts many hunters. Non-hunters are free to explore on Sundays during the hunting season when there are no hunts scheduled, or anytime from May to September. Leashed dogs are welcome, as long as they leave only paw prints!

Long Ridge
Just south of Moncks Corner, about 25 minutes away, you can find another great place to explore in the town of Summerville. In the Long Ridge neighborhood in the north end of Summerville, you can find the Wassamassaw Community Park. This park has something fun for everyone, including your pooch! The features include picnic tables, playgrounds, open grassy areas, and best of all, two seperate dog runs! There is one section for large breeds and one section for small breeds. Here your pup can burn off some steam and make some new friends in glorious off-leash freedom. There are walking paths in the surrounding area that are easy on the paws. Your pup is welcome throughout the park, but must remained leashed when not in the fenced in areas.

Huger
If you and your doggo are just itching to get into the Great Outdoors, the nearby town of Huger is a great place to do that! It’s from here that you can access the Francis Marion National Forest, about a 30 minute drive south of Moncks Corner. In this expensive National Forest, you can hike to a mountain waterfall, kick back in a campground, or paddle through low country swamp wilderness. One of the pawpular trails is the Swamp Fox Trail, which continues for about 47 miles. Dogs are welcome to join in on the fun, of course, as long as they stay leashed and follow “leave no trace” principles.
