Dog Areas in Meggett

The town of Meggett, South Carolina is located in Charleston County. Meggett was founded in 1905, and it served as a hub for the Lowcountry's exports, including oysters and fish. The town also exported so much cabbage that, at one point, the town was known as the "Cabbage Capital of the World." As Meggett is only 40 minutes from Charleston, it serves as a bedroom community for the larger city, with many people choosing to live in Meggett and commute to work in Charleston.

When it comes to being a dog-friendly town, Meggett has some work to do. There are no dog-friendly restaurants in town, and there are no dog parks where your pup can enjoy some off-leash time. Meggett also doesn't have a veterinarian clinic, but there are two separate clinics just a short drive away. If you don't mind a short drive to Charleston or Mt Pleasant, though, there are plenty of opportunities for you to enjoy a day out with your canine companion, whether you want to hike, play, eat, or sight-see!

Meggett is a small town in the South Carolina Lowcountry. Despite its small size, the town is overflowing with Southern hospitality and will gladly welcome you and your family -- including the furry members!
