When in Winchester's City Center neighborhood, there's no need to feel the need to escape the city, because about 4 blocks from the bustling downtown district is Harvey's Garden. Harvey's Garden is a slice of pawradise right in the city; take a quiet stroll with your leashed pup along the stone-lined paths, or come sing along with the little birdies. Northwest Winchester

Don't miss out on the pawpular Tims Ford State Park, one of Tennessee's most prized parks! Located in Northwest Winchester, this park boasts a variety of outdoor activities such as biking, birding, hiking, boating, swimming, camping and more. And best of all? There are dozens of wooftacular trails to explore with your pup on leash! Over 6.5 unpaved hiking trails, plus 22 miles of biking/hiking trails invite you and your canine to get some exercise. For easy trails, try the Overlook Trail and Clifton Doyle Trail. For natural, moderate trails, explore the Lost Creek Overlook Trail and Highland Rim Wildflower Trail. If your pup is extra adventure, try out the difficult Ray Branch Shoreline Trail. Your pup must wear a leash and be current on his vaccinations to join you on the trails.

Decherd City Center

Wag over to the neighboring town of Decherd, located 2.5 miles away, to explore the town's city park and stay overnight in a pup-friendly hotel. Decherd City Park offers families a grassy retreat where you and Fido can lounge in the grass, play "Go fetch!" or grill out and picnic underneath the shady pavilion. Give your pup's weary paws a rest by checking in at the Quality Inn Decherd. Free breakfast is included in your nightly rate, which requires a small extra fee for doggoes staying overnight. Pet weight restrictions of 20 lbs apply, so make sure Fido packs light!

Lake

The Lake neighborhood in the town of Estill Springs, a 5-10 minute drive from Winchester, offers you and your pup a visit to the Estill Springs City Park. This local park in Estill Springs is the pawfect location to take a break with Fido while on the road. The park boasts a well-kept playground and grassy area, plus a shady pavilion for picnicking with a gravel lot for parking. Stop here to stretch Fido's legs, go potty, or for a bite to eat! Pups must be on a leash while on the city park grounds and any waste must be cleaned up after.

West Estill Springs

If your pup loves the great outdoors, then he will love the Pleasant Grove Use Area located in the West Estill Springs neighborhood, a quick 15 minute drive from Winchester. The Pleasant Grove Use Area sits on the shores of the Dale Hollow Lake. The area features access to the lake for swimming, fishing, or boating. Your pooch is welcome to stroll the grounds with you on leash, jump in the water for a refreshing dip, or lounge out under of the shady trees. The Pleasant Grove Use Area has become a recreational oasis for both locals and tourists alike. Come join in on the fun with your pup!
