Sewanee
Enjoy a day out with your dog in Elliott Park. The park has a large grass area where Fido can play fetch, and a paved walking trail for a good walk. The entire park is covered by trees to help keep you and your pup shaded as you walk. If hiking is more of your dog's thing, check out the Mountain Goat Trail. The trail is 4.7-miles long with an asphalt trail surface. Spend a day out at the Natural Bridge State Natural Area and enjoy the 3-acre area. Take a nice hike through the woods and enjoy the natural rock bridge that you will see as you hike.36

Sherwood
The Franklin State Forest is a 7,737-acre forest that your dog will love to explore with you. The park offers hiking, camping, horseback riding, and hunting. While hiking through the forest, you will come across a small creek with a waterfall that you and Fido can stop at to cool down. Make sure to keep your dog on a leash while you are visiting since the park does have hunting and off road vehicles that drive through it. Located in Sherwood, and only ten miles out of Sewanee, your dog will have an amazing time in this park with you.

Monteagle
The South Cumberland State Park offers over 30,000-acres that is perfect to explore with your dog. The park has tons of activities, like camping, hiking, and amazing scenic views. While hiking, you will pass a creek where you both can stop and cool down before continuing the hike. The park also offers a picnic area with grills, so you can enjoy a meal while you are out at the park together. Keep your dog on a leash while you explore the park, which is in Monteagle and only five miles out of Sewanee.

Tracy City
Enjoy a day out at the Grundy Forest State Natural Area at South Cumberland State Park, a different green space than the park in Monteagle. This part of the Cumberland State Park holds the Fiery Gizzard Trailhead, a pawsome trail that your dog will be dying to hike. This 12.5-mile trail is on an out and back trail and will take you to the Fiery Gizzard Creek. This trail doesn't offer much of an elevation gain, so it is perfect for any type of hiker. While hiking, enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of the forest and woodlands, plus the creek offers a great waterfall. The Grundy Forest State Natural Area is in Tracy City, and eleven miles out of Sewanee.

West Winchester
Hang out at the Tim’s Ford State Park with your pup by your side. The 100-acre park sits on Tim’s Ford Lake and offers a baseball field, tennis courts, pavilions for shade, a boat launch, playground, and a camping area. There is a walking trail throughout the park that you both can use for a great walk together. At times, this park can get busy with outdoor concerts or sports games, so make sure your dog wants to socialize before you head out. Located in Winchester, and twelve miles out from Sewanee, your dog will have a great time enjoying this park alongside you.
