Dog Walking in Madison

Surprising to some, Madison has been recognized as one of the “10 Best Towns for Family” by Family Circle magazine. Madison, AL is a place of natural beauty, a place to enjoyed by both man and his best friend.

The city of Madison maintains a small park for the benefit of dogs and their owners. Mill Creek Dog Park, on Balch Road, has three separate areas. The staging area at the park’s entrance provides owners a place to unleash their pets before entering the play areas. One play area caters to smaller dogs 25 pounds or under, while the other is set up for bigger dogs weighing more than 25 pounds. Both humans and pets can get a drink of water at the park and dog waste bag dispensers are provided for the owners’ convenience.

The city’s Park & Recreations Department maintains miles of greenways and trails winding in and around the city. Pets are welcome on most trails, but they should be kept on leashes at all times.

Not only does Bruster’s Real Ice Cream welcome dogs to their establishment, they even offer free sundaes, topped with crumbled dog bones, for all their furry friends. Both Pie in the Sky Pizzeria & Pub and Bison’s Cafe allow dogs on their outdoor patios.

Several motels in Madison welcome pets, such as the Red Roof Inn & Suites, La Quinta Inn & Suites, Best Western Plus Hotel, Econo Lodge and Country Hearth Inn. Most places charge a fee for each pet, with the exception of Red Roof Inn & Suites where pets stay for free. Each motel has its own policy regarding pet stays, so make sure you verify reservations for both you and your pets.

Madison, AL is a beautiful place, one that you and your pet can explore together.
