Quaint, with a variety of family-owned businesses, Pulaski is located a little over an hour south of Nashville. This family and Fido-friendly town is a great place to raise both two and four-legged children. Although it’s a small town, there are two veterinarian clinics available for Fido’s medical needs. You can make both routine appointments and call for emergency services when your pup requires great care.
When your pooch needs some exercise, head over to the Pleasant Run Park on East College Street. The park offers a great place to stroll with your pooch along the paved pathway, and you can admire the gardens while your pup rolls around in the grass. While you are there, check out the Trail of Tears Interpretive Center. In addition to some local history, you can admire the sculptures and vined archways throughout the park.
Families enjoy the friendly atmosphere of Pulaski and spending time at the parks with friends and their furry companions. If you are traveling up to Nashville, Pulaski is a great place to stop off and let your pooch stretch his legs in one of the parks before heading into the big city, or make Pulaski your full-time residence to enjoy a woofderful hometown.
Right in the center of town, the Giles County Rotary Soccer Complex is a great place to spend some time with your pups and the kids. During the season there are often games going on in all the fields, but you can take your pup for a walk in the early morning or evening hours. You will need to make sure you bring your own doggie bags and clean up, and bring some water so you and Fido can relax on a bench after a jog around the field. The grass is well-maintained and is perfect for letting your pooch chase after a ball or hang out in the shade.
Situated in southeast Pulaski, you and your pup can visit several different parks and get some exercise. The Magazine Road Park is on Magazine Road and great for both kids and your pooch. You and Fido can walk around the path while the kids have fun on the playground. There is even a small creek running through the park where your pups can get their feet wet. The Sam Davis Park is just a block away, and features athletic fields used by the schools. If there are night games the park is lit up and perfect for taking your pooch for a stroll in the evening. You can also spend some time at the Pulaski Parks & Recreation Department when hanging out in the neighborhood. There is outdoor exercise equipment and picnic tables when you need a break. Shade trees provide a place to get out of the sun and the kids can play on the playground.
If you are looking for a place to walk some laps with Fido, head over to the Richland Park on Murray Drive. The park features a walking path and a playground and picnic area. The older kids can play a game of tennis while you play a game of fetch with your pooch on the ball fields. If you are looking for some history while out with Fido, head over to the Old Graveyard Memorial Park. The cemetery contains graves from the 1800’s and there is a pathway leading throughout the park. If you need a place to stay while visiting the town, Richland Inn welcomes pups for an additional fee.
Situated in the Rebel Acres neighborhood, Victoria and Washington Heights Parks offer plenty of open space and shade trees to walk with your pooch. When Fido needs some exercise, head over to the open fields and throw a ball or let the pups run through the grass and sniff the trees. You will need to bring some doggie waste bags and your own water bottles. There are no facilities in the area, but Fido will have great time playing in the fresh air. You can also spend some time at the North End Park on E. Grigsby St. This park features basketball and tennis courts and a large softball field. After walking with your pup, you can relax in the picnic pavilion and enjoy a snack.
If you travel a few miles north of Pulaski to Cornersville, The Texas T Campground is a pupular destination for families and their four-legged friends. The campground features tent and RV sites, in addition to cabins you can rent for a fee. There is a hiking trail through the campground where you can give your pup some exercise, just be sure to use a leash. There is a swing set for the kids to play on, and shade trees and picnic tables where you can enjoy some burgers and hot dogs. If you are looking for a fun place to spend quality time with family, pack up your pup and head to the campground.
