Dog Areas in South Houston

South Houston was incorporated in 1907. The city was once known for its shipping industry, as 3 railroad lines ran right through this area. Then, after a hurricane hit the area in 1915, shipping was done mainly through the Houston Ship Channel. It was after this that the population of South Houston really took off.

South Houston is a great place for you and your canine friend to visit or live. In Houston, which is located only 12 miles from South Houston, you'll find plenty of pawesome dog parks where you and your pal can get some mutts-needed exercise or just enjoy a casual on-leash stroll together.

One place you must visit in Houston is The Houston Arboretum & Nature Center. This natural paradise is the pawfect place to get up-close and personal with native flora and fauna. You and your leashed pup are more than welcome to enjoy the walking trails here, which are lined with trees that'll shield you from the Texas sun.
