Dog Areas in Pimmit Hills

Pimmit Hills, Virginia is a small town that’s located about seven miles from Arlington and about 12 miles from Washington, D.C. Up until the early 1950s, Pimmit Hills was mostly farmland; in fact, the area didn’t even have a name. Once contractors began building homes in the area, they settled on the name. Even today, though, homes in Pimmit Hills use Falls Church, a nearby town, mailing addresses. Don’t be surprised if the name seems familiar, though; the hit television show My Name is Earl took place in Pimmit Hills Trailer Park, taking inspiration from the Virginia town; it’s where the creator of the show grew up.

If you and your four-legged friend are looking to have some fun together, you’ll have to venture out of town a bit. There are currently no dog-friendly restaurants or dog parks in Pimmit Hills. Have no fear, though! As previously mentioned, Arlington and Washington, D.C. are just a bone’s throw away, so you won’t have to venture too far away from the doghouse. There are also several different veterinarian clinics located in the area, so care for your favorite furry friend is never too far away. Pimmit Hills is calling your name!

Less than ten minutes from Pimmit Drive, you and Fido can go visit Benjamin Banneker Park! This park is home to an off-leash dog park that's sure to be a pawesome time for your pup. There are two separate sections of the park, with one being for small dogs and the other being for large dogs. Water is provided for your pup, and there's shady seating for dog moms and dads. In the warmer months, the park provides a few kiddie (or puppy) pools for dogs to splash around in. Make sure to bring some waste bags from home!

There’s an off-leash section of the park, and luckily for your pooch, it includes a creek. Your dog will love splashing around in the water with his new friends. Make sure to bring a towel along! Unfortunately, this dog park isn’t fenced in, so if your pup tends to run away or ignore verbal commands, you might want to keep him on his leash. Have a ball at Glencarlyn Park!

If your designer dog or marvelous mutt enjoys having a dog park with a look as cool as his, he’ll love visiting Clarendon Dog Park! This off-leash dog park is about 15 minutes away from Pimmit Hills. There’s plenty of room for Fido to run around with both friends new and old. During the summer months, he can cool down by making a splash in a giant fountain that only looks like there are no dogs allowed. Water is provided, but make sure to bring along clean-up bags. Parking for this park can be hard to find, as most of it is metered.
