The best dog friendly neighborhoods in Pulaski
48
Pulaski Town Center
The Town Center neighborhood is the heart and soul of Pulaski. With so much going on in the Town Center, this is a great area for an exciting urban dog walk, with wide sidewalks to ensure that Fido has plenty of space. However, the highlight of this neighborhood would have to be the 57 mile New River Trail, which runs along the New River through Grayson, Carroll, Wythe and Pulaski. Surrounded by greenery, and with spectacular views of the river, this is a walk that will have any tail wagging. There are quite a few river access points along the trail, but do bring water and clean up bags.

Draper
Pulaski is home to several city parks, and the Draper neighborhood is where you will find a few of them. Heritage Park is set right by the river, with plenty of open park land and picnic tables. The Dora Trail also cuts through this park, connecting the New River Trail to Downtown Pulaski, giving your pooch many options when it comes to deciding where to walk to. If your pup would like to soak up some sporting history, take a stroll by Calfee Park. This is actually a stadium, rather than a park, but is listed on the National Register of Historic Places due to its unique character.
24
Mount Olivet/ Weldon
The Mount Olivet/ Weldon neighborhood is a popular one with dogs and their owners, mostly because it provides access to the beautiful Gatewood Park. This 400 acre park is perfect for a day of adventure, whether you and your pup would like to do some fishing and boating, or simply take a long, leisurely walk, and perhaps stopping for a picnic. Although you will be passing by a huge reservoir in the park, you should still bring some drinking water, doggie bags and a lead for Fido, as well as a snack if you plan on spending the whole day here.
12
Dublin
The small town of Dublin is just a ten minute drive from Pulaski, and is home to the Claytor Lake State Park. This park is ideal for a day out with your pooch, as there are several short, inter-connecting trails that the two of you can explore. The Claytor Lake Trail is 1.65 miles, and this connects on to the 1 mile Bent Tree Trail, from which you can then access the 1 mile Poplar Leaf Trail. There is a 4500 acre lake on-site that provides some pawsome views, but make sure you bring some drinking water for both you and your dog, as well as some doggie bags and a lead for Fido.
0
Wytheville
The small town of Wytheville is about a half hour drive from Pulaski, and is where you will find the incredibly scenic Deer Trail Park and Campground. There is so much for you and Fido to see and do on the park's land itself, from hiking trails to fishing, while just outside of the park is the magnificent Jefferson National Forest. Dogs are welcome to spend the night here, either in an RV, a tent, or one of the park's on-site cabins. If you would like to grab something to eat, Skeeter's World Famous Hotdogs can be found in Wytheville town, and have an outdoor table where you and your pup can dine together.
